Tara Edwards case dismissed

Post by SteveS » Thu Jan 30, 2020 8:53 pm

What a waste. After a massively long discovery phase including many depositions they just threw in the towel today. Pure speculation but I'm guessing that she just wanted to put it behind her after they dragged it out this long.

Dismissal order

She probably figured she'd be blacklisted and never be able to work in TV News again...What a shame!

She wasn’t all that good so I’d have rather seen it come to a conclusion than see her on tv again...

We'll probably never know but perhaps there was an out of court settlement. If that was the case M.W. missed by only a month from his list of 2019 predictions that it would be settled out of court.

There may have been a settlement involving payment to Edwards; tough to say. To simply "give up" this far in seems pointless.

They probably settled. There was a long pause in the case after it came out Malcolm was banging interns in the station parking lot.

Fieger likely would have tried to hang on through summary after all the discovery time

Remind us, again. What was this case all about? Who was involved?

Tara Edwards was suing Scripps and Malcom Maddox for sexual harassment and not doing anything to stop it after she reported Maddox’s actions or something along those lines...

I'm sure she got pennies on the dollar, much less than she would have got if she would just found another job for the same amount of time spent on the case.

Scripps 0

The lesson learned here is that Black male anchors, admittedly with a lot of talent, can have sex in the parking lot with interns and repeatedly sexually harass women reporters...

and the response will be he gets promoted, a radio host who reports on the scandal get fired, and the victim is brow beaten into accepting a secret settlement.

Kind of thought me too would pump the brakes on this type of corporate behavior. I was wrong.

At least station management didn't give the anchor an office with a remote rape lock.

I throw up a little in my mouth each time I have the misfortune of seeing station GM, Mike Murri, give one of his insipid on-air "editorials."

That guy comes across as a total asshat.

Whats the point of those dumb editorials anyway? They are so shallow.

Im station manager Joe Blow.
Thousands of Americans are murdered every year

(Goes on to explain that murder is legally and morally wrong).

"We must continue to work towards a murder-free world, for ours and our childrens safety".

Then, after an editorial no normal person would disagree with, they invite "opposing views" to be sent to the station.

For the station to be licensed they have to work in the public interest... thats why we have Flashpoint, Spotlight on the News and Let it Rip. They have to program this stuff somehow.
