This speaks volumes.

It shows, if the poster is truly Joel Feick, that everyone in the business reads this message board. Most will deny it, but they’re lying.

Most people trust this message board over people’s personal social media or corporate social media.

I understand the poster’s personal experience that gave a favorable impression. Rather than the Titanic, he saw it as a lifeboat. Getting canned after 27 years means either (1) reinventing oneself, meaning additional training, possibly more education, which means possibly debt to get there, then starting off at a lower pay scale and working up just in time to retire or (2) go to the last place station with a rookie news director, who will bend over backwards for you since you already have name recognition and her success will rise on your success. It’s a pretty easy choice. I get it. Who wouldn’t be grateful for that?

However, there are people on here that claim to have worked there longer that say the place is more of a hell hole now than it has ever been. I don’t dispute that. I respect all opinions.

I don’t hate anyone. People are free to work or not work anywhere they want. They are free to pay agents and unions until the cows come home. I’m cool with that.

I’d like to hear more positive experiences from folks who are either working there now or have worked there in the past.

There are probably several people, like Joel, who can say, “Hey, it worked out okay for me! What’s the big deal?”

When he was hired by a rookie news director with less than a quarter the news experience he had, who didn’t know what she was doing, the red carpet was quite literally rolled out. Who wouldn’t appreciate that after getting s-canned by a former employer after 27 years?

However, his experience, and Trooper Harris’ experience are not typical, despite others working just as hard, if not harder.

I guess, then, it shows that everyone in the business is also exposed to your miserable bullshit every god damn day.
Wow. Do you kiss your mom with that mouth? I know I do.

Also interesting is that the 10pm producer who left is the fiancée of Chief Engineer/wonderkid Chris Harris, the son of Bill Harris. Rumor is more changes are a’comin.
Must be an opening for a 911 dispatcher at MSP. Who doesn’t love nepotism?

I love it when others say “if you hate it there, just leave.”

Why should I have to leave when I’ve worked all my professional career to do a good job. I haven’t done anything wrong.

If others are threatened by me calling out the wrongdoings of management... then I suggest 25-66 management leave or at the very least address the serious issues I’ve raised and improve the working conditions, morale and pay for workers.

If I leave, it’ll my choice, on my terms and on my timeline... not others...
1. “I love it when others say ’if you hate it there, just leave.’” You must *really* love it, because sane, intelligent people are going to continue to say that to you.

1. “Why should I have to leave...?” You don’t “have” to do anything. Nobody is forcing you to do anything, except cops, and they suck.

2. “If I leave, it’ll be my choice...” Duh. Unless you get fired, which is likely after you get found out.

3. “I suggest 25-66 management leave or at the very least address the serious issues I’ve raised and improve the working conditions, morale and pay for workers.” There’s a principle called a paradigm shift (look it up). Ignorant people like you get stuck in your own paradigm and refuse to see the assumptions of others and refuse to challenge your own. Look what you just said. You suggest management leave based on what you want. Others are suggesting you leave based on what you say you want. I can see the next company get-together where management and their reports screaming at each other “You leave!” “No, you leave!” That’s exactly what you’re doing here. That place has always been and always will be last place, lowest pay, worst morale. It’s in its DNA and you can’t change that. It attracts rookie news directors, down and out dinosaurs with nowhere else to go, those who pay agents to work there, and low paid (notice I didn’t say underpaid) people like you. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results has gotten you this far and will leave you here. Changing your paradigm will almost guarantee “improve the working conditions, morale and pay for workers” because you and they won’t be working there.
