NBC25/Fox66 forced to read promo

Post by sinklair » Sat Dec 14, 2019 7:26 am

It’s the story that never dies... even though everyone on Pierson Road hopes it will go away and no one will notice.

Even Sinclair’s golden boy/former FOX News anchor Eric Bolling says in the Washington Examiner (a traditionally conservative leaning newspaper) that local news “journalists” should not be forced to read political statements like the one Dave Bondy and Stephanie Parkinson did last year attacking “fake news”.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news ... ews-script

The news director who objected to taping and airing this commentary was let go... while Dave and Stephanie continue to anchor their last place newscasts.. and the GM and regional corporate lackey plan more layoffs and budget cuts so they can increase their year end bonuses. Welcome to Sinclair.

And no one has explained why this commentary ran on WEYI, despite it being run “independently” by Armstrong Williams. A possible FCC violation worth looking into???

Mike Schram was escorted out the door by HR back in July.

So you’re blaming the person who was fired for objecting to airing this crap... rather than the company’s decision to force local journalists to read political statements in the form of a news promo???

101, Do you also blame victims of drunk drivers for being in the wrong place at the wrong time?

This “victim shaming” is exactly what Sinclair does so its employees don’t speak up or challenge bad decisions. If you do complain about a company policy, we’ll let you go just like we did with Schram.

It’s Management by fear and it’s wrong and it’s not unique to just WEYI. Look at all the people leaving WWMT in Kzoo for the same reasons.

It probably took time for the station to build a case against Schram — so they could fire him over “Trumped” up charges.

But I like the “hostage promo” line. Very appropriate in this case!
