Andy Stuart out?

A place to go for those of you who wish to discuss happenings in OH, IN, IL, WI, and Ontario. OSU sucks, by the way.

Except for 1470, of course. There’s also the fact WMIM is “technically” a Monroe station.
WMIM 98.3 is actually on the K100 tower and COL is actually Luna Pier. The signal is rather weak. Many complained since "Tower 98" that they could not get the signal that was off the K100 tower, within the city of Monroe. So it's not a Monroe station at all.

I know WMIM is now licensed to Luna Pier and where the tower is. Their office is in Monroe and they target the “Monroe market” (whatever that is, the county perhaps?). Since they made the move, Cumulus should have just committed the station to Toledo.

I think their main contour barely touches the city limits, hence the COL being moved to Luna Pier.

Pretty big news as one of the last radio moguls to reside in Toledo, he ran ClearChannel in it's heyday with Shaffer pissing off Carty and the Blade, afternoon shows on WSPD that pissed off minorities, but it delivered ratings and probably some ad dollars. Then he did stupid stuff like fire Jim Felton Brady as morning man on the River and stole Mitch and Marybeth from K100 until he realized that K100 could be the #1 morning show with anybody. Then he disappeared. Then he reappeared at Cumulus (after a deal with the Devil - Dickey Jr. perhaps, but later that deal went sour) and did bring back Denny and Johny D, but also beat the crap out of his on-air folks with making them voice track multiple stations. Then he pissed me off by turning-in the license to AM1470 without so much as allowing the Dickeys to sell it crippled, or ever build the AM facility that they applied for 1560 and 1470 in SW Toledo, but traded away the daytimer 1560 for the 100.7 signal, so nobody invested in a ground system for 1470 and now the towers are gone, the license is in DC, and you probably can't apply for 1470 as there is no open period. Speaking of the Dickey's, I wonder if he's kissing up to them and his new "media company on paper" that has lost millions as it's done nothing yet that Lew Dickey Jr said that it would.
Or, Think Andy will show up in Detroit on WCSX or some crazy arrangement like that?? Can't miss Andy in his big Caddy ass-hauler driving around. PS: thanks for the billboard photo with the stations as they were 5 years ago.

Well... if this is 100% true then I am not surprised. The Toledo Cluster looks awful, XKR,RQN,and K 100 are fine, but the rest of is an epic mess. 105.5 at a 1 share, 106.5 and 100.7 are not going to be bread winners but my god there pathetic. Clearly, something isn't working here in terms of direction.
105.5 needs to be fixed, certainly, but a lousy rimshot that barely covers 50% of the metro (106.5) and a flimsy translator will never be a factor no matter who is running the show.
FYI, formats have nothing to do with the GM. The GM is basically the SENIOR Sales manager and HR manager. Format VP's, formerly called consultants, are in charge of formats, station momentum and psychology, along with PD moves from station to station or market to market. Bad signals are between the Engineering Dept and the FCC, as funded. Same goes for bad audio and chain processing.

I suggest a call or email to the responsible party listed above for the appropriate issue.
Son, I have worked in broadcasting for 46 years, including in Toledo...and with real, live, local talent, and locally based, decision-makers, not the voicetrackers and crank-spankers that exist today. But thanks for dazzling us with your brilliance. Now, get the station van washed, and clean those fuckin' bathrooms. The "suits" from corporate are coming to town. :rollin

Radio mogul? I hardly think so. Frazier Reams and Peter C were radio moguls. Lew Dickey, Sr was a radio mogul. So was the lady who ran WMHE, who's name escapes me. Andy was just another middle manager.

You really could have just typed "I hate Andy because 1470 is no longer on the air".

If the story I just heard is true it’s kind of unbelievable.

You're one of a very few people who likely care about a functionally obsolete AM radio station.

Also, I strongly doubt the decision to turn in 1470's license was made on a local level. That decision likely came from corporate.

1470 was a mess, and I’m not even speaking from a programming standpoint. Even if they could have gone full power from their transmitter, the largest lobe went directly over Lake Erie.

The new site might have been better, but their was no way Cumulus would have built that. What kind of revenue would they have had? The commercials would have been extra spots from advertisers on the FM stations. A few brokered shows, but that could also go to FM on early Sunday mornings.

I would have loved to see 1470 sold and upgraded by a new owner, but they don’t think the same way as us. Apparently it wasn’t worth trying to sell the license.

Colonel Flagg - I believe you are thinking of Ruth Ray.

1470 is Dead and Gone, it's never coming back. Time to demo the towers and move on. The 98.3 thing, I'll never get. Moved the transmitter to be close to Toledo, then... decides to be a Monroe station again. Would not mind seeing 98.3 sold to a smaller local owner.

I think there's still hope for 1470 on an omni-directional signal that airs only Tigers games and A Firm Foundation.

Okay, the "it's a damn shame the buggy whip factory went out of business because they made great buggy whips" crowd needs to move on.. let's get back to Andy Stuart. Can anyone confirm details about why he was let go? And by what I heard, corporate came into the building and escorted him out with his tail between his legs. What's the real story morning glory?

I suspect 105.5's terrible ratings performance didn't help his cause.

The story I’ve heard has nothing to do with station performance either ratings or revenue.
