WLPC Moved to 28

Post by Splouge » Sun Jun 09, 2019 2:01 pm

WLPC has moved to UHF 28 and increased to 4 kW, and now I can finally say I receive all Metro Detroit TV stations, and it's really not that interesting. A bigger waste of spectrum than WUDL. Hopefully they add Decades to 28.5, Decades doesn't seem to have much of a problem with Class A LPTVs, it's the regular LPTVs they don't want.

Yes, its virtual number is 28, not 40

I can pick it up too. I don’t think the audio is working on all of the sub channels, not that it really matters as I will never watch them.

Right now (1:27 PM Monday) they are presenting "Mr. Ed", but they've squished the 4:3 programming to 1:1!
WTF?
(what the format?)

Did they move fully? I still see them at 40 as a weak signal, but not at 28. My Channel Master DVR which allows me to manually scan channels without having to do a full rescan, so I can check signal strength and quality.

Im not receiving them anymore either, they must have just been testing out their RF28 signal. They'll have to move by the 21st permanently as that's when the current repack phase (I think phase 3) ends

I'm no longer receiving WLPC, are they still on 28?

No they are on 40, the move to 28 has been pushed back to Phase 8 according to Rabbitears

I wonder why, they did have everything all set up on 28.

Not sure what happened, when they went to 28 I was in Chicago for work. When I got back I tried to scan 28 and I was receiving no signal, but when I checked 40, I could see the signal, but as usual it was very weak and hard to lock. Maybe they had issue with the new antenna and asked to be moved back to phase 8. 40 is going away after the repack so they have to move.

WLPC-CD has informed the FCC that it does not have a tower crew available to install its new antenna.

Not sure what everyone was seeing, but the new signal shouldn't be that much different from the old one in any event, unless something is seriously wrong with the current gear. I suspect that either:

WLPC-CD lied to the FCC, which I find unlikely, or
The station could have changed its virtual channel and atmospheric enhancement brought it to you on the old channel.

I did receive WLPC on UHF 28 for a straight 3 days in a row, it was very weak and only came in at a signal rating of 45% at very very specific antenna positions, but considering they only would run at 8 watts in my direction, I think someting was indeed wrong.

WLPC-CD lied to the FCC, which I find unlikely...
I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss that possibility.
