This just in. Guns do kill people.

Homemade gun kills owner, death an accident, police say

A Tasmanian has died after accidentally shooting himself in the chest with a homemade firearm.

The body of Timothy Matthew Gardiner, 29, was found at a Blyth Street home at Ravenswood on Saturday morning.

“As a result of investigations carried out, including interviewing a number of witnesses and gathering and analysing evidence from the scene, we are satisfied that Tim’s death was a tragic accident,” Detective Inspector Kim Steven said.

“Police have been able to determine that Tim was in possession of a small homemade firearm at a residence nearby the unit where he was located at the time of his death.

“Police have spoken to three other men who were present when the incident occurred.

“(We) believe Tim was handling the homemade firearm when it suddenly discharged, firing into his chest. Tim then made his way to his mother’s nearby residence, where he died. This is a tragic accident.”

A report would be prepared for the coroner.

“Homemade firearms are not only illegal but can be extremely dangerous,” Inspector Steven said.

Tasmania has a permanent firearms amnesty, whereby members of the public can hand in unwanted, unregistered or illegal firearms to police without penalty.

People die in car accidents too. Let’s ban them!

Cops too! Ban ‘em!

What am I missing? I didn't see anything in the story about banning guns, cars or cops?

Turkey is correct the article is not about banning anything, Read the article LL 101 before you jump to conclusions, You know there should be a ban on stupid people that don’t get the facts straight.

None of my homemade firearms have killed anyone... There's a sweet M4 leaning against my amp rack that doesn't have a serial number.
