WJNL (Kingsley, MI) should NEVER be operating at night, unless there is a bona fide emergency. It is a true daytimer, and WPHT, in theory, serves the people of Kingsley at night.

Several stations in the Central and Mountain Time zones operate at night, either by using 3 watts at night, or by using a Directional array at night.

Only other stations I've heard on 1210 at night are KGYN in Guymon, OK (either they had an emergency or their equipment was amok) and a Cuban Reloj.

KGYN is full time, but directional. I’ve only ever picked it up in the vicinity of Guymon itself (yes, I’ve been there).

Remember that Sunset times vary with location. Traverse City on average would round to 15 minutes later than Detroit.

Guymon sunset is easily an hour later than Detroit. So it may be Night here but still Day in Guymon.

KGYN was 10 kW non-DA D Daytime until recently, and the Day pattern is still quite unrestricted.

If they are STA testing the 50 kW DA CP, the IDF field toward Michigan is close to the equivalent of a 50 kW Class I-A/A nondirectional, and in excess of a 50 kW Class II-B/B stations like WHB 810 out near there. I've heard WHB alone during this period with no WGY detectable.

Is THAT where they got the idea for the 486-SX?

WJNL is an infrequent visitor just before sunset in Lakeport. I remember KGYN as a regular on Monday mornings when WCAU was off. The other one I've heard is KOKK in Huron SD, that's easy to log if you hear baseball PBP under WPHT. The Minnesota Twins web site still lists them as a radio affiliate (doesn't mean they are, these lists can be out of date, but I'll bet they are).
