The cost of FM Translators and LPFM Transmitters

The technical side of broadcasting. Think IBOC is a sham? Talk about it here! How about HDTV? Post DX reports here as well.

Anyone have an idea what an FM Translator cost versus a Transmitter for an LPFM.

Probably more than a high end Amateur Radio transceiver for a translator box. It has to have high freq stability and emmission purity and be able to run 24/7. Guessing $10-20 K for a 100 W unit.
For a 1 kW LPFM transmitter maybe more than three times that.
My estimates usually are way too low :D

It cost us the stations we actually want to listen to that those parasite translators trample all over.
