NS8401 - your feedback has merit, and I have to admit, I was flat footed.
Yesterday, I banished one poster for using extremely insensitive language.
I will be watching posting behavior more closely going forward.

Also, how 'bout 90-year-old Hall-Of-Fame Yankees southpaw (1950-1953-67,236-106 record) Edward Charles Ford, whose final game was May 21,1967 against the Tigers ? His official nickname is "Whitey," but Yankees catcher Elston Howard dubbed him "The Chairman Of The Board" for his mound guile and easy personality .
I'll see if I can find a link to the eponymous song.
Hard to find. Not a big hit. #42 Hot 100 #10 R & B
Big on the Northern Soul Casino circuit. You know from the picture when it doesn't have the typical 45 hole in the middle.

General Johnson was not a military General, as some believed. General was his given first name.

Disagreeing with Communists is NOT an impeachable offense.

The plumber doesnt have a large audience to push an agenda onto. He probably isnt going to be pushing Marxism or how much he hates corporations while snaking a toilet. Musicians DO have a large audience, many of whom dont want to hear it. Those boycotting performers are basically saying "i dont want MY money sponsoring their public rants". Record sales and concerts have made them famous. Without the public buying cds or tickets, they wouldnt have an outlet to be heard. Liberals who dont want to hear Nugent and Conservatives who dont want to hear Neil Young or John Mellencamp push their politics wont buy tickets because that just encourages speech they disagree with, so if theyre going to rant, it wont be on THEIR dollar. so, they feel as if they buy their albums, they are giving them A) the platform to speak their politics, and B) encouragement or approval to do so.NS8401 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2019 2:00 amShouldn’t we all have thicker skin than to base our purchasing decisions on the PERSONAL feelings (like assholes everybody has them) of the artists?TC Shuts Up wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2019 7:37 pmNow if they would just have the same animosity toward John Cougar Mellencamp's and Bruce Springsteen's LEFTIST Diatribes, I'd say it was even. They should ALL JUST SHUT UP ABOUT POLITICS that will offend half their potential fans. I give Bob Seger a lot of credit for KEEPING HIS MOUTH SHUT ABOUT POLITICS.
Does it really matter one bit what they think of anything if at the end of the day the music sounds good?
If you had a plumber who did the best job ever for you and was a communist would you never call him back again and settle for a subpar guy you agree with?
When I hear “I’m never listening to him again!” In response to some who cares opinion the celebrity had about something they can’t control anyway my automatic thought about the person making this boycott decision is essentially “I’m never thinking of you as an adult again!”... some people never stop being 12 I guess...
It like when the Dixie Chicks did their anti-Bush thing and all the country fans stopped liking them... gee... the songs were still exactly the same and they liked them fine before... why let some stupid opinion change that?

Except,of course,Country music fans,who generally are far-right-wingers who,I've heard,bring their guns to Country shows .

Another ignorant, bigoted remark. And possibly the most ridiculous and false statement you made yet.borderboy653659200 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2019 2:21 pmY.M. That gives *me* pause.
He made some very incendiary remarks regarding Michigan recently. Not sure why the backlash is surprising to you.
Also not sure how you've concluded tix are "selling briskly." I see plenty of pavilion sections with "100+" tickets still available. Others have 50 or more available.
Full disclosure, I've done all of that before... https://cs.stanford.edu/~srijan/pubs/so ... ww2017.pdf

That's an interesting academic research article. I appreciate you sharing it.
I learned a new term - "sockpuppet" !
It is good to know even scholars use the word "troll" to describe disruptive and disrespectful online chatting behavior.

Natalie Maines was speaking for the entire group when she made her political statement and the fall out hurt everyone, which is too bad. I have never truly understood why any celebrity feels the need to tell their fans what their political beliefs are and make public statements all the time. by and large we don't care as we all have our own, just shut up and sing, act or whatever. As for the outlandish statement that country fans bring their guns to concerts, you are an idiot. I guess you forgot the mass shooting in Las Vegas.
Re: 106.7 FAKE WHEELS is out of touch with its audience (shocking, I know)
I think it is the same reason people post their political beliefs all over a message board about Michigan Radio and TV.

I'll leave when I'm ready,Y.M Ionhere. Besides, you know my characterization of most musicians (save Country artists) music fans as generally left-of-centre,leaving the far right to the good ol' boy twangsters . (Besides,I'm sure most Country dudes proudly emulate a lyric in Brad Paisley's," I'm Still A Guy," and tote an iron [gun, for you young 'uns] in their vehicle .)
Re: 106.7 FAKE WHEELS is out of touch with its audience (shocking, I know)
szmigiel, big difference between us talking politics on a message board and celebrities talking politics at concerts, on talk shows, etc, etc and trying to make the public think that their opinion is any better than ours.
Borderboy, I guess you didn't know Paisley is a Liberal.

Well,Paisley's liberal for a West Virginian . (Though I can't picture his voting for Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders in '20.)Also,unlike 97% of West Virginia men,Paisley's handsome . (Though I'm considerably better-looking than little Brad despite being nearly 19 years his senior .)
And Paisley's and L.L. Cool J.'s partnership on their mega- (and MAGA)-dumb hit "Accidental Racist" still makes me want to put both men in the Brady Breaker and not release the hold until they apologize for agreeing to record that piece of ear crap .
