"Dawn (Go Away)"-Four Seasons
#3 for 3 weeks behind IWTHYH and SLY by the Beatles. #1 AT ANY OTHER TIME IN THE RNR ERA! In fact, both groups were in royalty disputes with Vee Jay Records, and the Four Seasons were searching for a new label, which delayed the official Philips Label (and logo so ubiquitous now) release. They recorded it in a clandestine session with Larry Santos on November 20, 1963. Joey Reynolds brought several acetate copies to WTRX, which he was still consulting after leaving for WKBW, and some ended up at WLS and CKLW a good month or so before the official release. They were on the chart and being played as extras. This of course was going on in "late December, back in '63".

Vee Jay was pressing both The Four Seasons and The Beatles that they had had rights to in OWOSSO, MI, at American Record Pressing. It is etched "ARP" on the smooth area outside the label.

"Candy Girl"-Four Seasons #3
A- Side "Marlena"-Four Seasons #36
An A- Side is a hit B side that somehow wasn't released as an A Side.
"C'mon Marianne"-Four Seasons #9
Music Mike Production with WCFL Classic Jingle at the beginning. Want to know what it was like listening to Top 40 in the 1960s? This is it. Composer L. Russell Brown makes several comments on this thread. His guitar riff was stolen by the Doors in "Touch Me", as was Ajax's "Stronger Than Dirt".
