Re: Radio And the year you Graduated.
Graduated in 1989, spent my teen years loving 94.5 WKLQ and the morning zoo. The battle between Bubba the Love Sponge and Danny Douglas was a little over the top and at times unprofessional, but as a teen I loved the competitive music between WKLQ, WGRD and WSNX(sunny FM). Also, being in extreme NW Muskegon Co., I had a slew of favorites from the ‘other side’ of the lake. WLUM, WKTI, WWBZ, WIXX WAPL to name a few.
Re: Radio And the year you Graduated.
I graduated in 1987, my car radio presets were
88.7 CJOM They still played some New Wave and Synthpop
98.7 WLLZ Not the biggest rock fan, but it beat R&B and Top 40
99.5 WDTX Was probably my go to station until they became The Fox
101.1 WRIF Rock was always a good fall back and I believe Greg St. James had a show, he would slip in a few alt-rock bands.
101.9 WDET It did depend host and show, but usually best after midnight Fast-Forward
I was more a fan of late night radio; listening to Brent Bambury's Brave New Waves on 89.9, a great source for songs that would never be played on Top 40. Radios in Motion on Sunday nights on WLLZ I followed Mike Halloran from station to station in the 80s. Fast Forward I think started the year I graduated and was a great source for House, Techno, and Industrial. I still stopped by the Electrifying Mojo hoping to catch something unique in between the R&B hits.

Graduated in 2002. I was an "uncool" kid who DIDN'T listen to DRQ, Planet 96.3, FM98 WJLB, or 97.1 K-Rock. I listened to WOMC, WNIC, and Kool 107.

When I started at WXYZ-TV WRIF was in mobile homes just west of the "farm house" which is adjacent westward of Broadcast House. Eventually I was told the city of Southfield ordered them out of the "trailers" which sparked construction of the new building on the east side of Broadcast House. I can't speak for WLLZ as I don't remember them in that earlier time.

It was 1971,and I switched from being an R&B/Motown/British Invasion lad to a rocker dude (though I still love soul ) because rocker chicks were FAT hotter than those who were into what is now termed "urban" music.

Like a couple people here I graduated high school in '73. It taxes my memory thinking that far back, but I recall my radio listening gravitating to WABX, WRIF, CJOM, and WDET. That latter entry introduced me to modern jazz, the avant-garde, and reinvigorated my love of classical.

Do any of you older posters, like myself remember a DJ on CJOM named James Brian Scicelliano (again my spelling is terrible )And if you were a fan of that station can you remember some other DJ’s.
Re: Radio And the year you Graduated.
I graduated from high school in 2004. I was the Program Director of WSDP Plymouth/Canton under the leadership of Bill Keith. Together with my amazing team, we won both the Michigan Association of Broadcasters and the Michigan Association of Educational Broadcasters Station of the Year. I cohosted the station's 80s show with Promotions Director Ryan Alloway and (because of theatre commitments for Ryan) often sports staff member Mark Donaldson, my best friend since 1st grade who still holds that position today.
In addition to my own station I listened most often to WMGC Magic 105.1, WNIC, 93.1 DRQ, and Channel 955. I count then-WMGC PD Jim Harper as a major influence on my life as a broadcaster and a person. Short sweet Harper story, I emailed Jim after the death of his father and received a note appreciative of the condolences from a "fellow program director." I glowed for weeks on that one.

Re: Radio And the year you Graduated.
I graduated in 2005 and already was listening to WOMC (Oldies 104.3) becuase I did (and still do) love oldies... though WMGC Magic 105.1 and "Soft Rock Favourites" 100.3 WNIC were frequent guests on my radio as well. Rounding things out when i was in a heavier mood would be WCSX 94.7 and WRIF 101.1.... If i needed news, though, only one station satisfied they way no other could: AM 800 CKLW.
Occasionally i'd listen to Canada's Rock Station (CKUE 95.1/100.7)

I had a '94 Cavalier. It was a Z24. 2003 was around the time it got wrecked. it was the perfect car and I still miss it to this dayMega Hertz wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 5:43 pmI graduated in 2003, so I had a big, fat, whopping nothing. Stations I usually had on were 89x, Riff, CSX and DRQ, maybe The Drive. Maybe CJAM if I could get it. Rock fans had really slim pickens for outlets post 1999. In the span of a few years, WLLZ went smooth jazz, The Edge came and went, 96.3 went soccer mom, 97.1 came and went, 102.7 was all gone...so yeah, I had a hard time filling up the presets in my 92 Cavalier.

Re: Radio And the year you Graduated.
Mine wasn't anything fancy. It started giving me problems after a while. I'd spend two hours making the perfect mix tape (yes, even in 2003 I still liked analog), I'd put it in the tape deck, and it would play fine for a while and start eating it. Had to pull over many times and jam the eject button and lift the tape up with my hand.Y M Ionhere wrote: ↑Mon Nov 26, 2018 7:45 pmI had a '94 Cavalier.
