I remember that station and they were broadcasting from the Renaissance Center. I recall their daytime DJ and his name was Ted Anthony and he lived on a houseboat if I remember correctly. I listened to that radio station all the time. I also remember Ron Tavernit and just Googled him and he is doing voiceovers now: https://voice123.com/profiles/rontavernit/

Re: WTWR Tower 92
Is Ron Tavernit the same guy who called himself "Ron T" on Oldies 104.3 back in the 90's?

There was also Kurt Kelly.

Didn’t Vic Doucette have something to do with Tower 92?
I remember hearing him host some sort of feature program. There is a Vic Doucette who posts on the board. Might be the same guy.

Re: WTWR Tower 92
I have never been associated in any way with Tower 92, unless you count having worked in college radio with Tower's PD, Steve Schram. He now runs Michigan Public Media, a Spartan in Ann Arbor. I was working in Florida when this music guide was published.
Re: WTWR Tower 92
The reference to "music calls" has nothing to do with request lines. This chart is an ad from a trade publication; the station is saying that it will take calls from music promoters and record label representatives at a certain time each week at the listed number.
Re: WTWR Tower 92
I’m actually saying does anyone call up a station to request a song anymore.

Re: WTWR Tower 92
I had the pleasure of working on the air at Tower 92 FM, 1980-1982. Steve Schram was the program director and Ray Caroza was the news director. We were located in Tower 100 in the Renaissance Center. My last on-air position was as a morning news anchor working with morning show anchor, Tom Shannon. I left in April, 1982, to work as a news anchor for UPI Radio at its studios in the Daily News Building on 42nd Street in New York City. Returned to Detroit in September, 1982 and was hired by WJR News Director, Rod Hansen.

Interesting! Obviously 98.3 in Monroe took the name and the calls, after they changed to WCXI country.
Re: WTWR Tower 92
...and that was courtesy of Tower 92 sales exec Bruce Lesnick (now deceased). He took the WTWR calls (and classic logo) to 98.3 in Monroe, which was WVMO - The Voice of Monroe, a country-formatted, farm report-airing 3kW station whose stick was in Monroe County at the time. Most notable WTWR/Monroe alums are NPR correspondent Don Gonyea, longtime WLEN/Adrian talent Dale Gaertner, and current/past Detroit air talents Terri McCormick, Steve Marshall, Lori Bennett, Lou Dallman, and WHMI/Howell's Mike Marino and Jon King.1027BrianFM wrote: ↑Fri Nov 16, 2018 11:54 pmInteresting!
