Compounded by the fact that many "average citizens" believe the U.S. is a democracy.

New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

It certainly has looked that way the past seven years.

Obama, Reid, Pelosi, Boehner, McConnel....

Idiots all.

It is not quite that simple. Most of those states are winner-take-all per congressional district with some delegates going to the overall state winner. This means that Cruz and Kasich will get at least some delegates from some of these states where one or the other beats Trump in a particular district.
California in particular is difficult to predict since it has so many districts. Whoever wins the state will likely get about 2/3 of its delegates with the other 1/3 being split between the other 2 candidates.
Are you disagreeing that the delegates for all these states don't add up to 415? I did mention five other states that you didn't quote.

So give him 300 out of those 415.
There are 674 delegates available in all of the remaining contests. All he'd need is an additional 91 delegates in more then a half dozen remaining contests. The point is the math is getting more simple now.

Cruz has spent more then twice the amount that Trump has. Almost $90 million already versus Trump's over $35 million. And with all of Cruz's free press coverage he can't beat a candidate that could be easily defeated just based on the stuff Trump says.
That's called a bad investment.

I was simply pointing out that those states are not true winner-take-all states (at least not all of them).

300 in those particular states is a bit on the high side, IMO. 250-275 might be attainable though.

Cruz is getting absolutely DESTROYED tonight. He's in a distant 3rd place in 4 out of 5 races.

Trump, on the other hand:

54
59
60
61
65

So much for the Trump ceiling theory.

She had better choose Bernie Sanders.

By the way - notice how Trump has kept on suggesting that poor Bernie get on a third party ticket. Trump wishes!

This was the move that will turn it all around for Ted :rollin
Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, desperate to alter the course of a presidential primary fight in which Donald J. Trump is closing in on victory, will announce Wednesday afternoon that Carly Fiorina will be his running mate if he wins the Republican nomination, two campaign advisers confirmed.

The move, a day after Mr. Trump scored unexpectedly wide victory margins in sweeping five East Coast states, amounts to the grandest diversionary tactic a presidential candidate can stage — or at least the grandest one available to a candidate trailing by more than 400 delegates who failed to win more than 25 percent of the vote in any state on Tuesday.

Guess old Ted wasn't all that interested in being President after all...

What makes this all that much more amusing is world-class grifter Sarah Palin at least managed to win an election in her career. Carly fuckin' couldn't even do that

Carly = wicked witch of the west.

She makes even Hillary seem gregarious.

Horrible pick for Cruz, although I will concede Fiorina is probably his mirror image on many political issues. Are there any major topics where the two differ?

She might be more interventionist than him on foreign policy, and Cruz has a little bit of libertarian in him whereas I don't sense that with her.

If I'm Ted Cruz and I want to do a takedown of Donald Trump, why not go after...

...his Atlantic City bankruptcies.
...Trump University.

If I were Ted Cruz or his campaign staff, I'd be all over Trump University like flies on shit. Mr. Cruz is a highly accomplished attorney and a legal scholar. Surely, he could find the "juicy" parts of the legal pleadings and share them with the entire country. Maybe he's waiting for the right time to strike. Perhaps he feels that's immediately before the California primary.
