Bill Schuette wants to be Governor. Badly. If he handles the prosecution of this hot button issue with anything less than zeal and transparency, he can kiss that dream goodbye.

For example, MW, who I believe leans Republican, probably wouldn't vote for him in a million years if he handles this badly and allows things to be "whitewashed".


New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

Early reports say three people will be charged - two at the DEQ, and one at the city level. The person they're charging from the city is the guy who told DEQ that they were moving too fast on the transition, and that he wouldn't authorize such a move (which he was overruled on). I'm genuinely curious what he did that would lead to charges against him, or if Bill just wanted someone from the city to be charged so it wouldn't be so obvious that the state and the state-appointed emergency managers were responsible for the problem.

The initially it was incompetence...that gave way to ignoring the problem which may have been criminal.

How is the VA working out?

I'm not convinced Glasgow deserved to be charged with any crime.

I'm also surprised that Benzie and Shekter-Smith of the MDEQ have not (yet) been charged with any crime.

Nonetheless, what happened today is a good start, is long overdue and I look forward to learning of additional indictments in the days & weeks ahead.
