Blackburn’s Cool FM’s

Post by Deleted User 16173 » Wed Jan 31, 2024 7:37 pm

What little terrestrial radio that I listen to, on occasion I do tune in to Cool FM 95.1 from Chatham. Does anyone think that Blackburn is doing a fair job with this Classic Rock/Classic Hits format? Blackburn also has the Cool brand in Sarnia at 106.3, Windsor at 100.7 and Wingham at 94.5. Blackburn has a Classic Rock station in London at 98.1 which I thought at one point would’ve been branded as Cool, but it never happened.

Don't get any of them. On 95.1 I get country and on 100.7 I get...country.

One from Flint, the other from Lansing.

When CHKS-FM became Cool 106.3 I found it to be a little bit better than the final years of K 106.3. From the 1999 sign on up until about the mid 2010s, K 106.3 was at its best. I also like the music on 98.1 CKLO from London a little bit better than what is on 95.1/100.7 and 106.3 right now. I don't pick up Wingham's Cool 94.5 where I live.

I snagged SO many great tunes from K 106.3. I could pull in FM 96 out of London if the conditions were just right, and I got a lot of great stuff there, too.

106.3 I think has seven translators in the area, so even if it was still around, I couldn't get it. And now 95.9 is...country.

That's dead.

I haven’t listened to 100.7 in a while. It was nothing to write home about but I’ll give it a shot again tomorrow. 106.3 isn’t too different than the last days of the pathetic rock format. It made WIOT look current and modern. At least with Cool FM they can promote it more accurately.

I think I’ve picked up the Wingham station from Lakeport State Park. I’ll have to check again next summer.

Cool’s selection of CanCon seems to be more palatable to me for some reason. They tend to play deeper cuts of the better known artists. It’s always a good day when I’m listening to terrestrial radio and Blue Rodeo comes on.

LOL Canadian radio is so bad it makes WIOT sound good?? That's what government control of the airwaves gets you.
