CJAM Celebrates 40 Years

A place to go for those of you who wish to discuss happenings in OH, IN, IL, WI, and Ontario. OSU sucks, by the way.

About 1977, CJAM was listed in White's Radio Log on AM 660. It was not shown as a carrier current station. An over the air full power station on 660 in Canada would not have been allowed, due to being right across the border from the US, and WNBC 660 was a Class I-A protected skywave station under the AM Agreement, and within their Nighttime protected contour.

The article said that the station on AM was heard in its residence halls, rather than the entire campus or the surrounding area, so it's very likely was a carrier current.

First adjacents WSM 650 and WMAQ 670 would also prevent a 660 from signing on in the area.

But in the 1980s, WMIC 1560 moved to 660. I heard that WMAQ 670 did measurements that showed that their contours went out further, so that WMIC had to protect WMAQ. But they were allowed Presunrise Authorization on 660, which caused some complaints from a well known radio aficionado who listened to WNBC. At one time, the treaty didn't allow stations on Class I-A frequencies near the border, which also precluded US Daytime and Full-time stations on Canadian Clear Channels like 540, 690, 740, 860, 990 near the border.
