Toledo Radio Ratings August 2023

A place to go for those of you who wish to discuss happenings in OH, IN, IL, WI, and Ontario. OSU sucks, by the way.

I'm skeptical XKR's signal can penetrate walls of industrial facilities reliably in Toledo proper such as the Jeep plant.

As someone who works on the far western side of Toledo in an industrial facility, it's all my coworkers listen to. I'm sure the Jeep Plant can get it.

If I am not mistaken, XKR is played at Jeep everyday. Same for Chrysler out in Perrysburg TWP I believe.

I stand corrected. Kudos to the engineers responsible for XKR's transmitting facilities, because the station is certainly overachieving when it comes to building penetration.

I work in a place with thick concrete walls and on the FM radio on my phone (yes it actually has one) I can get XKR mostly ok albeit it fades in spots. WRQN comes in ok. WIOT no issues. WNKL not so much nor WIMX.

WIOT needs to add some newer songs to their playlist. It sounds very stale. I think their playlist might be from iHeart corporate.

This comment applied 20 years ago as well.

With a few exceptions it's the same play list from 2003. Not to mention Phil Collins being played in regular rotation. :x

they almost make XKR and RQN look NOT stale. Almost. At least on the latter two stations on the weekend you'll run into Organic X with deeper cuts or old Casey Kasem shows.

IOT is just You Shook Me All Night Long, Pour Some Sugar On Me, Sweet Child of Mine, Home Sweet Home, lather, rinse, repeat 19 hours a day except for when Boob and Tom are on.

New numbers come next week, what are your predictions?

K100 will cling to heritage and do well, without doing anything noteworthy. Same for kiss, WIOT, and River.

QQO will probably get passed by that translator.

That's really a shame. We had IOT sounding good when I was there...36 years ago. The weekly music meetings with Peter C were a regular riot. But hey, the station was locally owned and operated. Much different times.

36 years ago? Just as well, WIOT thinks it's still 1987 anyway.

Another rock solid ratings book for WIOT. Also of note, K100 earned its best beauty pageant result in quite some time with a 10.6 share, and WRQN looks solid, too.

Elsewhere:
- Kiss is sagging but still looks respectable
- Q105 is below a 2 share (as is 94.9)
- Hardly anyone listens to AM radio in Toledo (Speedy's A25-54 share has GOT to be abysmal if they're only at a 2.7 share in the beauty pageant numbers)
- 98.3's numbers have been at or near all-time record lows for the Toledo Metro Survey Area now for several straight book.

Of note, listed stations represent only ~55 percent of audio listening recorded by Nielsen, which means a LOT of listening to streaming audio / smart devices, SXM, podcasts, unreported stations and/or out of market stations must be occurring in the Toledo market.

I'm guessing Mix, Hot, Juice and Wolf collectively account for 12 or 13 shares of listening.
