Toledo has a new radio station.

A place to go for those of you who wish to discuss happenings in OH, IN, IL, WI, and Ontario. OSU sucks, by the way.

There was dead air for a few minutes, although it's fixed now.

Yeah it seems there having some technical issues this morning. It is good to see 1520 being used for something other then hellfire and brimstone. The station has quite a storied history.

Reading the news articles about it, this reminds me of the old Q96.9 back around 2003-2004, with a Rhytmic format and DJ mix shows during the weekends. Adub worked there and now works at this new station.

I'd call it Rhythmic Hot AC. The comparison to Star 94 seems pretty apt, musically at least.

Well said. Another comparable station might be the long defunct 106.7 The Beat in Detroit.

I do have to say the imaging featured in that aircheck sounds excellent.

I also thought of 106.7 the Beat as well except no 80's.

The imaging sounds great too.

This station sounds awful.

It's in mono.
They are having massive issues keeping it on the air.
The imaging sounds like amateur hour.
The logo is clip art.

If they think Andrew Z is a brand name locally, think again.

What a joke.

I heard 1520 a bit today in the Downriver and other southern Detroit suburbs when it wasn't overtaken by WJR. Not a single ad meaning no cash flow so far. Not my kind of music so it's not something I would try to listen to.

Many stations, even those owned by the mega corporations, often launch with 5,000 or 10,000 songs in a row with zero commercials.

If they have a couple handicapped parking spaces at the studio, maybe WOHO and I can hobble in there once a week, walking with our canes, and a host a '70's rhythmic show. 😆

True but they usually promote such a thing on air. Granted I’m not in Toledo to see if there is physical advertising. There’s no mention on their social media.

I wonder what Andrew Z has to do with this...his wife is the Sales Manager, according to the website. Mandi Michaels is the PD and Dakota Mendenhall is the GM...actual names...wonder how they are getting paid?

I doubt anyone is getting paid. This radio
Station smells like pizza place.

Col. Flagg- 1520 70's show- you bet.
I'm waiting for them to screw-up...103.3 is a 150W translator, so it can only duplicate what's on its parent channel. 1520AM. Andrew Z probably could have gotten WJYM and its new 106.9 translator for a lower price. Wonder what the AM and 2 translators sold for? And where are the studios?
