Re: Peter Cavanaugh Has Passed Away (WIOT)
Peter C was a hands-on kind of guy, even as VP of the company. I especially enjoyed sitting in on the weekly music meetings, with Peter, and WIOT's music director, the late Jim Steel. The meetings were held in the music library (a gigantic room, and Jim's office) and the current album tracks were reviewed, and selected, over much spirited debate. WIOT had a very refined sound back then, all created in-house, by guys who had a good ear for AOR, and knew what they were doing...and maybe a little help from Lee Abrams.Kennelly Heaviside wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 3:32 pmMainly known in Ohio for his years as VP/GM of Reams Broadcasting and WIOT, Pete Cavanaugh has passed away.

God bless Peter C. Rock on, my friend.

That would explain how WIOT was the highest rated AOR station in the nation in the top 100 markets- real hands-on people from VP to MD.
Had no idea Lee Abrams ever gave his two cents, but when Lee was calling the shots at XM Radio in 2001-2005 (before the dreadful Sirius merger) XM was THE place to listen for a couple of years with plentiful playlists. Peter, RIP

Re: Peter Cavanaugh Has Passed Away (WIOT)
WIOT and WWCK were both Burkhart-Abrams "Superstars" consulted stations. A consultant named Jon Sinton crafted WCWA's "Precision Oldies" format. At the time, Peter C thought Oldies would be refreshing after a long run with Adult Standards/Big Band on Seaway. He was right.WOHO wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 4:51 pmThat would explain how WIOT was the highest rated AOR station in the nation in the top 100 markets- real hands-on people from VP to MD.
