No wonder why traditional radio is toast. Let's piss off the agnostics and atheists and continually buying their favorite stations' frequencies. Secondly, as I said before, Christian's are so far back in time, they still have shortwave frequencies that nobody even knows about. The reason is obvious. What bafoons!

iheart is done with country in Dayton. B94.5 never preformed that well against *MONSTER* K99.1FM, also didn’t help that we have 101.5 HANK FM ,Classic Country 105.9 plus the out of market stations 94.1, 96.1 and 105.1. Ratings wise BIG 106.5 did well with it’s limited reach due to it’s rimshot signal coming out of Greenville 30 miles NW of Dayton. Alt 103.9’s ratings have been garbage lately so I’m thinking Classic Hits will roll over to 103.9. Now I’m wondering if iHeart will keep the 60’s and 70’s or go with a more traditional 70’s and 80’s Classic Hits playlist.

Yeah I-H briefly had 106.5 country, which lasted I think less then a year. I loved WDSJ, when I lived in Findlay, sometimes WDSJ would come in instead of then WRWK from Delta Ohio. If I-H wasn't unloading the stations, I was thinking it was about time to flip 94.5. I agree, Classic hits will move over to 103.9, if so I'm thinking they will add 80s with it.

I thought they were dumping Dayton AM stations, I'm surprised to see that they're two FM outlets they gave away. Couldn't get a more traditional company to sell to, or is it more to get tax write-offs? And it doesn't sound like a total freebie if they are still responsible for tower rent, etc...?

When haven't Alt 103.9's ratings been absolute garbage?

I agree that it would behoove iFart to shift classic hits from 106.5 to 103.9,

If they fail to do so, (poorly run) Alpha or Cox should pounce by adjusting 92.9 or 95.3, respectively. Would be a great option for 92.9 especially as the Z93 branding could be resurrected.

Wasn’t WDSJ smooth Jazz?
iheart is keeping the 2 AM stations because they still own those out right, they do not own the two FM stations are getting ready to disperse which are owned by Aloha Station Trust II.
True, never understood why they flipped The X. I used to listen to 103.9 online when I still lived in Toledo.
Probably 95.3/101.1 cannot see those two stations flipping anytime soon maybe readjusting their playlist, Cox seems to be interested in top 40 but not here. Dayton definitely could use another top 40 station would be nice to see Z93 makes a come back.
MW was Z93 using the same V/O as Tower 98 and 93.1DRQ in the Mid 2000’s or a different one?

Yup; 106.5 in the Dayton area was indeed Smooth Jazz for many years.

Dropping virtually all modern hard rock from 103.9 in Dayton in favor of big doses of sissy music was one of the worst format moves involving any FM station in the Midwest in the past 25 years. However, I can think of some changes that made even less sense than that one.

103.3 Indy, 103.9 Dayton and 105.9 Pittsburgh all pivoted to a wimpy, sissified playlist around the same time. The Indy and Pittsburgh stations have since gravitated to a much more balanced mix of modern rock where artists such as Korn, Rob Zombie, Metallica, Breaking Benjamin and Rage Against the Machine are now part of the playlist, but sadly, the Dayton station remains ultra wimpy.

I cannot recall who imaged Z93 toward the end of its life, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't Brian Casey. There's an aircheck from 1999 on YouTube. At that time, the station was using the same V/O guy that CK105 in Flint has been using for many years.

Too bad that 106.5 couldn’t remain smooth jazz, definitely can tolerate it over many other formats.

Agreed, I’m a H*** 90s grunge/alternative and the 2000’s had same good stuff to but as soon as the 2010’s came around modern rock took a crap. As for 103.9 the only time I listen to them as if they’re playing a good 90s song and that’s it. Cannot speak for Pittsburgh but Indianapolis just gained a nice rock station, that made 103.3 get their crap together. Too bad the same couldn’t be said for alt 1039.

I should’ve streamed Z93 towards the end. Did get a chance to check out that aircheck on YouTube. It’s funny that you mention CK 105.5 I have always had a soft spot for that station, finally was able to hear them for the first time rather than on a stream when driving through Flint/Saginaw on the way up to a friends lake house last summer.

I was in the Grand Lake (Celina/St. Marys) area this past weekend and caught some of an AT40 countdown from 1973 on 106.5. It was kind of sad hearing it knowing that format wouldn't last much longer.

Going back to the '60s, 106.5 was WDRK... "the bright spark in Darke" (County). They were apparently Top 40 at least part of the time in 1964-65. The ARSA website has a few surveys.

Also funny you mention 103.3 in Indianapolis... 106.5 is currently using the call sign that used to be on 103.3.
