89X,93.9 The River & AM580 are Gone

A place to go for those of you who wish to discuss happenings in OH, IN, IL, WI, and Ontario. OSU sucks, by the way.

I hate how on 89x's site it says "When you're looking for your New Rock fix you can always check out Rock Nation on the iHeartRadio Canada app"... I don't want to do that... that's why I'm listening to the radio!

Why do you say AM 580 is gone? 580's Twitter and Facebook are still in existence; 89X and 93.9 The River are not.

Maybe you just need a new radio. I have 580 on my radio right now.

I started out with nothing and I still have most of it.

Apparently, the change excludes 580 -- just the FMs:

They do this all the time when a format change happens, as it's usually a completely different format with a completely different audience.

Why do broadcasters do that? They already have an established and loyal audience and they want to go chasing after someone else's audience instead.

BTW. 580 is alive and well. They're just a little off frequency. 578.8 KHZ

I just checked - CKWW is in with its weak signal, sounds like there is about 1.3 Hz heterodyne with another 580 (likely WILL).

I doubt WILL would just happen to be off by more than a kHz too.

Could it be something in or near your site?

FWIW, WILL really gets out. There's a stretch along I-94 by Metro Airport where CKWW has a deep null. I've heard WILL during the day in that null, very weak, but the NPR bumper music is recognizable.

More likely that WTCM would come in there, except during Critical Hours or years ago before WTCM went big, or when WTCM has transmitter problems.

Is THAT where they got the idea for the 486-SX?

Morons. How about you put AM580 simulcast on 93.9 and have a "Big 8" format, you dips. WTF, missed an opportunity as Top 40 would have been better on 89X than country as far as listeners. How stupid.

My guess is that everyone is stunting. Alienating the audience, if you will.

Even so, I can easily see a 2nd CHR in Detroit/Windsor. Quite a few have an Adult and a Mainstream CHR. 96.3 is not CHR, like Q is not. But remember, this is Canadian CHR. Canadians are alittle looser on what gets aired- more open to various sub-formats that the US will not air. They also must sign and turn in logs to prove that they play 15% or more of Canadian releases. So this would be different than Channel 9-5-5.

As for 580, they changed patterns. With that being said, not everyone will get it. And some, only at night.
