The playlist is basically a more girlie version of what 93.9 The River plays.

This will go over like a lead balloon.

AAA didn't work so well for them, so I don't know about this. Cleveland isn't exactly the market for this type of format.

Cities 97 in Minneapolis gets decent ratings, but other than that, Modern AC has flopped everywhere it’s been tried in the last decade or so. This sounds a lot like SiriusXM’s The Pulse. Will be interesting to see how long this lasts.

Expect numbers lower than the smooth jazz format. This is about the worst format they could have chosen given the demographics.

This is a very weird choice, I don't know what the last few books were for The Wave but I imagine not good. Alternative would have been a better choice or soft AC even.

RCRG stopped subscribing in Cleveland about five years ago, but when they did, the Wave got between 1.5 and 2.0 6+. Given the target demo for Smooth Jazz, I can’t imagine the 25-54 was anything above a 1.0.

The only good thing I can think of relating to this is that if numbers stall out, they could easily pivot it to Alternative.

Soft AC seems like a great fit for the market, given the demos. Plus, Magic and Star are #1 and #3 in market revenue, so it seemed like they could chase the easy money. Oh well.

Rubber City did just flip 1590 WAKR and its FM translator to Soft AC. I wish they'd dump this "jenY" nonsense and just simulcast the WAKR format on 107.3. Seems to me it'd be a good way to hit both Cleveland and Akron filling the gap between WMJI and WDOK. Or a more authentic Triple A like 107.1 in Ann Arbor would have been better. Instead we have a musical clone of 93-9 The River with a mix of Triple A and Shawn Mendes, Post Malone and Justin Bieber teenybopper pop, and I can't believe there was call for yet another station playing "Senorita." I might point out that WAKR's FM translator is on 93.5, which is likely unlistenable in most of the Cleveland market thanks to WLEC's translator also on 93.5, CBCL blasting in from across the lake, or both.

I don't know how these fools with a less-than-stellar signal think they're going to compete with the likes of Q104 and Star 102 in Cleveland! They are trying to jam themselves into a musical hole that barely exists.

A station that played a wide range of upbeat music from the 90's & 2000's - a mix of pure pop, hip-hop and alternative - would've been nice.

Throwback hip-hop and R&B would've been a decent choice, too.

A real rock station to kick WMMS in the pants would've been great.

NEVER trust Rubber City's programming instincts anywhere outside of Akron. They proved themselves to be incompetent operators in Lansing years ago.
