Amy D fired from K100?

Post by Deleted User 15062 » Thu Dec 05, 2019 6:14 pm

Just got a message saying Amy D was escorted out of the Cumulus compound. Any ideas why? I know she was not the hardest worker in the building. Did that have something to do with it? Johnny D is now on- what- 8 stations now? We know he's voicetracked.

If that's the case, Timmy... watch out for your semi-voicetracked position too. Even if you know the Dicky's personally. Maybe not watch movies, when you are "live."

I personally liked Amy really well and I thought she did a fairly decent job over at K100. I'm starting to get tired of hearing Johny D on every station. Seems like an interesting development.

Yeah, "Johnny D radio" is just as tiring as his "Who got da flavah!" It comes off as arrogant and impersonal, while not having to remember what station you're VT'ing. Has anyone done perceptual on those stations? The public thinks just like us 2.

I wonder if this has anything to do with Andy's exit. Sounds like a budget cut if they're keeping John tracked.

If that were true, they'd have fired Timmy. He makes way more than Amy ever did, does literally nothing, beyond a few PARTIAL air shifts and remotes and a shrinking of spot voiceovers. And I do mean NOTHING. The budget could be better saved by getting rid of glorified driftwood. For years, everyone in back was too scared to say what I just did.

I thought Andy Stuart was able to justify keeping Timmy and Becky by having them VT two other stations while they were on their 93.5 shift? Is that no longer the case? Bill Stewart's voicetracking is so obvious, it's horrible. So what's the deal, BS gets one hour pay to VT 4 hours?
Bye Amy- you though you had it made when they laid-off Bill Manders, now you know how it feels.
Cumulus is a real piece of work when it comes to dumping people- the escort them out the door bullcrap.

Hey the old newsboys paper today (Fri Dec 6) had a big giant "Billy Michaels is so great" and is running Cumulus Toledo- no mention of Andy Stuart?

If Bill Stewart's nightshift on WRQN is VT'd, then what's his other job? I'll admit, even on VT, he can be mildly amusing. :lol

I agree. Better than no voice. Wish they would at least have a co-op at the station at 7pm so you can call someone and let them know when a station has dead air, but that doesn't appear to be the case in radio land anymore.

I'm told from the back of the building that this WAS NOT budget. Behavioral oriented termination. She did this to herself. So once again Timmy, be on your P's and Q's!

Try calling 419-725-5730. At least you can leave a message with Ric Cruz. His number is not forwarded, like other engineers had. They are supposed to have silence sensors on all of the transmitters.

As for XKR, that's unavoidable. The combo of location and "lake effect" make the microwave connection go bye-bye. Moving to internet was done, but they must have given up on that.

Also allot of [car] accidents on Arlington, as carriers stay on, but no OpX, when a generator is not permanent, to power it and the studios.

Cumulus is a fool company!

Microwave from XKR should be bulletproof. I'd bet on microwave over the flimsy internet anytime. Is the path direct to Arlington, or is there a hop in the middle?

Bouncing off the K100/Nash TX I believe. That's the site for remote signals too. Someone will have to correct me if I am wrong. Used to be direct. Then record spin, digital garble and then silence prior.

But to bring everything back on track... Amy is toast.

I Talked to a buddy of mine who knows people from Cumulus. He told me her ratings were down but wanted a raise because of her seniority. She said she would leave the station if she didn't get the raise, so they fired her instead. It just shows how loyal Cumulus is to their longtime employees. NOT! :horns

I agree about how bad it is when Cumulus fires loyal employees. I felt the same way when Ron Finn was fired from RQN after many years. Andy Stuart was fired from Cumulus back in October, BTW. That's why he was not mentioned in the paper.

I felt the same exact way with Bill Manders. They should have retired him, not fired him. Gary did force him out, in favor of a minority working Mondays. It also helped the budget, as he made more than Amy, due to his own seniority.

Maybe she'll find her way back to US99 in Chicago. Question is... will her "roommate" go with her. Both ladies just may stay in T-Town.
