Andy Stuart out?

A place to go for those of you who wish to discuss happenings in OH, IN, IL, WI, and Ontario. OSU sucks, by the way.

I suspect 105.5's terrible ratings performance didn't help his cause.
Even with K100 as a powerhouse, and XKR and RQN solid performers? Take out 98.3 and 100.7 (translator formats are lucky to get a 2.0 in the 12+ beauty pageant demos) and rimshot 106.5, and Q105 is left... the only actual laggard in the cluster.

If it was K100 hemorrhaging listeners and revenue...

The story I’ve heard has nothing to do with station performance either ratings or revenue.
Go on...If you can, obviously.

Well... if this is 100% true then I am not surprised. The Toledo Cluster looks awful, XKR,RQN,and K 100 are fine, but the rest of is an epic mess. 105.5 at a 1 share, 106.5 and 100.7 are not going to be bread winners but my god there pathetic. Clearly, something isn't working here in terms of direction.
105.5 needs to be fixed, certainly, but a lousy rimshot that barely covers 50% of the metro (106.5) and a flimsy translator will never be a factor no matter who is running the show.
FYI, formats have nothing to do with the GM. The GM is basically the SENIOR Sales manager and HR manager. Format VP's, formerly called consultants, are in charge of formats, station momentum and psychology, along with PD moves from station to station or market to market. Bad signals are between the Engineering Dept and the FCC, as funded. Same goes for bad audio and chain processing.

I suggest a call or email to the responsible party listed above for the appropriate issue.
Son, I have worked in broadcasting for 46 years, including in Toledo...and with real, live, local talent, and locally based, decision-makers, not the voicetrackers and crank-spankers that exist today. But thanks for dazzling us with your brilliance. Now, get the station van washed, and clean those fuckin' bathrooms. The "suits" from corporate are coming to town. :rollin
... yet you only complain about it, instead of going through proper channels. 46 years taught you nothing.

Any Andy Stuart sightings at the Dickey compound or at any other media outlet?

I wonder if we will hear " 105.5fm The Christmas Channel" or " 105.5fm North Pole Radio"

Interesting new info: Corporate in town on a scheduled visit. Staffers overhear loud shouting match in conference room during a budget meeting. Stuart escorted out of building that afternoon. "We don't comment on personnel matters" the only thing said during cluster-wide meeting next day. No new manager named, corporate VP running station remotely.

Can anybody confirm any of this? It's been my understanding that despite ratings, financial performance at the cluster was satisfactory, so I wonder what all the screaming was about.

Corporate probably wants (more) budget cuts and wanted Andy to terminate some of his sacred cows.

Cumulus just fired two of its morning hosts in Harrisburg, PA, likely to be replaced by The Bert Show in the case of the CHR station and the awful Ty Bentli show in the case of the Country station.

It also wasn't that long ago that Cumulus fired one of its morning hosts in Grand Rapids (backfilled by the stations' existing PM drive jock, whose position in turn has been replaced by voicetracking) and demoted a longtime midday host.

Don't be surprised if The Bert Show appears on 105.5 FM. Also don't be surprised if you begin to hear a personality or two pulling shifts at two Cumulus stations locally.

I think this is likely what happened/ is going to happen. If it is true, it's unfortunate because I've really been enjoying what I've been hearing. Correct me if I'm wrong, I thought the Dickey brothers were out of the mix at Cumulus.

Dickey Brothers were removed from Cumulus, left their Dad's radio station in disrepair, lost license to FCC when Andy turned it in. Dickey's have a new venture on paper that has already sold stock and already lost money and have done nothing. Current Cumulus management is just as horrible- run the stations with almost no live and local shows if you can- they are single handedly ruining radio is every market under market #5.

I cannot agree with the last part of the above statement. Cumulus is far from alone when it comes to scrapping local programming in favor of boilerplate garbage, and plenty of Cumulus-owned stations still sound decent or even downright good.

John Dickey, Lew Dickey, and Jan Jeffries were more toxic than the current guard.

I agree with allot from you both. However, the mass corporate companies have ruined radio. Remember the Zone, and how watered down the sound was? Sounded way too CHRish. Now look at Hot AC.... Cumulus and Entercom (formerly CBS) radio stations are now adding rap to the mix, as in Q104 and New 102-7. For example Lizzo is a current. Even 101.5 The River airs Pump Up The Jam and Funk Cold Medina. Q104 (Entercom) airs hip hop after 10 pm. Then the 8 minutes of spots, in 4 stopsets. Don't get me started.

I would say anything is possible. What's for sure is this was not a planned move, as Cumulus has not announced any replacement yet. They send out all sorts of PR when they hire a manager, and for Toledo right now... crickets.
