Bob & Tom done in northwest Indiana

A place to go for those of you who wish to discuss happenings in OH, IN, IL, WI, and Ontario. OSU sucks, by the way.

Bob & Tom done in northwest Indiana

Closest thing they've had to a Chicago affiliate since their brief stint on the walking corpse of WRCX for a few months in 1998 after Mancow jumped to Q101.

Good. They've always sucked and one of the guys the show is named after retired at the end of 2015. Show needs to die.

They're carried in Northern Michigan on WWMK Mac FM 106.3. You can get it on Alexa also on Tune In. Mac FM has a good format. It's similar to a cross between 70s on 7 and Yacht Rock.

Does anyone at the Chicago Tribune know how to spell Petoskey correctly? It's only where the famous WBBM Newscaster, John Harrington, the founder of WJML, started his radio station.

Is THAT where they got the idea for the 486-SX?

Same (x, y, z), different (t)

The show has never done well in major markets. It lasted about three months in Detroit, for example. I have never understood how it has lasted so long, especially in smaller markets. Two guys laughing for three hours is not good radio.

Yet somehow both Bob and Tom are in the National Radio Hall of Fame and are gazillonaires.

How is it The Bob & Tom Show when Bob retired like 5 years ago?

I don't want to call people in smaller markets hicks and rubes, but they've always pretty much eaten Bob & Tom up with a spoon in smaller markets in the Midwest. That combined with the strong base they established in Indy ensured the success of the show.

Here in Toledo, a lot of people love them for some reason. Pretty sure they've always beaten whatever XKR has had on in the mornings, even a good jock like Mark Benson was forced to play the same stale music and lame joke service bits ("One Minute Inside a Guy/Woman's Head", etc.) over and over. They also tried bringing in Free Beer & Hot Wings back in like 2011 and it was a complete flop, lasted less than a year before they were put on 100.7 the Zone to run out the contract.

BTW, if anyone is passing through northwest Indiana/south Chicagoland, X-Rock 103.9 is worth a listen. Plays deeper album cuts and less 80's butt rock than most classic rock stations do these days. It sounds much better than WDRV, which is a sad shell of its former self but has a stranglehold on classic rock in Chicago itself since the God squad bought the Loop.

Branding? Shared ownership by Kevoian? Doesn't he pop up once in awhile?
