106.5 Toledo

A place to go for those of you who wish to discuss happenings in OH, IN, IL, WI, and Ontario. OSU sucks, by the way.

In West Toledo it is, around Sylvania, Springfield twp/Holland, and points west. In Central Toledo, South End, Perrysburg, and East Toledo, WMTR fades. Point Taken on retaining ESPN radio.

I can get both 96.1 and 100.7 clearly where I live on the border of Maumee and Springfield Twp., so yes there's some overlap between the two signals although not as much as between 96.1 and 106.5.

Besides, if they had been able to air the Tigers on 100.7 they would have just done so when the old talk format moved there in the first place when 1470 was shut down. The Tigers were literally the only thing anyone ever listened to Talk Radio 1470 for.

That's all 1470 really existed for in the end. Even then, you could catch Tigers baseball on 97.1 in Detroit, if you were in Monroe County or right on the state line. If indeed, The Ticket goes to 100.7, It will will likely just be ESPN 24/7 as it basically is now on 106.5. Not sure if that hour show in the afternoon will/would make the move or not.

Curly.... please recheck your facts and numbers. The books ALWAYS showed "The Polka Party" as being the major thing drawing ears. If you did not have access to those books, you would never had known. If you do not believe me, the old PD of 1560 on this board can tell you. They both had similar ratings and he was also educated on the numbers.

Not sure if it will move? Is it a paid/barter show?...which is why it's only an hour. If it is, but you do not know it is, it will make the change. Cumulus being on the stock exchange guarentees it. Think like you are on the stock market and desperate for dough... now you can predict the Toledo Radio future. EVERYTHING is about money in Toiletto, Ohio broadcasting.

Chet & Sharon's Polka Party was the mainstay of 1560 WTOD for decades.
In hindsight, if Cumulus knew 1470's ground system wasn't going to be repaired ever, then the morons should have kept 1560 as their 'clearinghouse' for brokered programming and worked harder on a decent translator for post-sunset on 1560 or did a swap plus cash for 1520. Too little too late.
I can't get 97.1 worth a sh*t in Toledo, nor 96.1 until I hit Swantucky. East of I-475 96.1 is crap signal for baseball.
Have to end-up getting XM to replace local radio for Tigers games.

PS: Sunday's Blade had a front page and two regarding the talk shows ('RAP') on WOHO in the 70's.

I put it out there because, well.... ya never know. I did see on The Zone's FB page, that this was the final episode of "On The Radar" it could mean nothing but my gut's telling me The Ticket is going to 100.7. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong but we shall see. It could be, The Zone gets axed and The Ticket gets Simulcasted on 100.7fm until the deal with Delmarva closes.

Btw, The Zone's Facebook Page Only has 887 Likes and it's pretty dead. https://www.facebook.com/1007TheZone
This could be interesting. On the Radar was part of the pre-2016 Zone, and it ended as soon as they moved the talk programming from 1470. This could mean the Zone may be flipping soon.

Hmmmmmm.... Zone only having 887 likes.... add a "point" in the middle.... 89X. Interesting, since they were close in formats.

100.7 is fed by Q105-HD2, so Cumulus could always add the Zone as WQQI-HD3 or WKKO/WXKR-HD2 signals
(even though all the Cumulus HD's, except 105 have been off for ages, WXKR still ID's at TOH as WXKR-HD1)

I can pick up 96.1 in Northwest Toledo on my Bose Wave radio, but it's very staticky. I can only pick it up with RDS if the weather conditions are right.

Oh that went over my head lol . How Ironic. I think Talk radio 100.7 was like a 0.2 or a 0.1. The Zone is barley any better after a year and a half. Not good.

Personally, I notice that Cumulus Media does not have any black formats. There's only 1 Latin X on 96.5, which is not Cumulus Media. If Cumulus goes with a minority audience on 100.7, that will eventually build listeners and maybe some Cume/AQH. It also will look good to the community. 2 communities underserved in Toiletto are LGBTQAI+ and Latin X. Just a thought.

I've thought for sometime that maybe a commercial Spanish language station, on say a translator ought to be given a shot. I'm thinking likely a regional Mexican format. Toledo has a decent sized LGBTQ community as well, that doesn't get acknowledged much of the time.

The Latin X community has some representation. However, the LGBTQAI+ community has nothing. You have various broadcasting stations in other cities like iHeart's Pride Radio (Which should be on WVKS-HD2 or 3), Entercom's Channel Q, You even have some stations even identifying as LGBTQAI+ friendly... but none/nothing in Toiletto. Even the TV broadcasters in Toledo's DMA don't represent any LGBTQAI+ persons or barely acknowledge LGBTQAI+. TV was better in the late 90's until the 2010's. Radio had no commercial and public representation at all, beyond a minor show on WXUT, which did not last- or remotes from gay bars on Saturday Nights on Star.

Memory: Remember in the early 90's when Caesar's Show Bar advertised on "Toledo 36-WUPW?" That totally got lost. I DARE anyone to try that again. Would be great to see the diversity.

Noticed 106.5 has been off the air since Saturday night. I kinda like it that way as I can get WLLZ 106.7 without any interference from 106.5
