13abc, No Stonewall on FB?

Post by Deleted User 15062 » Sun Jun 30, 2019 1:50 am

I just called WTOL 11, to express positive feelings about their news organization covering stone walls 50th anniversary and the events that went with it... even on FB.

Meanwhile, 13ABC has nothing on its Facebook page about the events or anniversary. It is now after 1 a.m., on Sunday, where there should be a story posted hours ago. I am not aware of any openly gay person on air at 13ABC, WTOL has at least 1. Why is 13ABC so conservative? I thought that was NBC 24's job. Even Fox News has Shep Smith, so there is no excuse.

This also brings up another thought that I have. Why is 13 ABC so late in getting news on Facebook?

Mel Watson, not impressed with your work, since you took over.

PS- their new cartoon news graphics are so 1990.

I didn't notice honestly, I really don't pay any attention to the local news coverage of it. I don't get on FB much anymore, I am sure that thread was a dumpster fire.

Actually I didn't see any of the negative comments you would expect from the type of people who use Facebook in Toledo, unless maybe 11 removed them.

Actually the guy who heads up the Toledo gospel rescue mission, was blasting lgbtq people with religious rhetoric. There were a few others that were doing so as well. At least on the Facebook page.

Why are Toledo broadcasters still stuck in the 80s and 90s? That's for radio and TV. I can't think of a radio station with a 3D logo. TV news has been done the same way since the 1950s. Radio stations have flow problems coming from their upbeat Jingles going to slow dirge songs. Let's not talk about chopping off the WX jingle for a dry sponsor, then jingling out. Nobody is openly LGBTQ-friendly. In larger cities, even the country stations are at Pride events. No PRIDE RADIO on any HD channels.

Because the populace itself is largely stuck in the 80's.

The city of Toledo itself is fairly liberal although much of that is more "I vote how my union tells me" than what you find in Berkeley or Boulder or even Ann Arbor. The suburbs are mostly lily-white and conservative and the suburbs are where 95% of the money is because gentrification in Toledo is a joke. Even Detroit is ahead of us in that regard now.

Look what Toledo broadcasting and media (who helps set trends) has to offer, that is not open minded or liberal:

- 5 homophobic country stations, which the management and company excludes LGBTQAI employees and events (one PD made fun of Toledo's Congresswoman, because she was never with a man, so he thought)... let's not forget the homophobic artists, like Blake Shelton. (Includes 95.3, 98.3, 99.9, 103.7, 107.7) If they are not openly homophobic, they are passive about LGBTQAI people existing, much less having rights.

- Only 1 station (2 with the LMA) has any open LGBTQAI role models on air. The other 2 stations choose to not. Even conservative Fox News has Shep Smith, so there's no excuse anymore.

- 10 religious stations, various flavors and genres. (88.9, 89.3, 89.7, 90.3, 96.9, 99.5, 102.3, 104.1, 1520 and 1560) We know how none of them are LGBTQAI friendly.

- Not one single commercial TV station did any pride history month PSA's, that I saw. Radio could have done them in 30's or 60's. February has plenty of PSA's for black history month.

- 96.5 is so weak, the Hispanic migrants can't get it at work/home on the farms. Most of the Hispanic migrants do not live in Toledo, but do live on farms. I went to one on Sunday. Many were surprised to hear that there is now a station, but could not get it in Wood County.

- Love our commercial liberal talk station... the one we don't have. Not even on HD.

- I love the fact that Buckeye has Logo on its basic tier. Lifetime, Hallmark, BET, Univision are all there. Logo is not.

- No LGBTQAI newspaper, which should have replaced TAGALA.

You are correct. Toledo is somewhat liberal. Maybe I am missing it... or nobody else expects more.
