Toledo radio Theory

Now... With this happen? probably not However,It's not 1000% impossible either . Just a theory.

So.. With EMF making buys left and right= and Cumulus trying to become a leaner company, EMF makes Cumulus an offer for WXKR.

Here's what happens:

EMF sells 1520am/92.1 to a small Broadcaster

EMF acquires 94.5 WXKR Port Clinton/Toledo and WTOD 106.5 Delta Toledo. K-love moves to 94.5 and K-love classic to 106.5.

Cumulus gets 96.9 Swanton in turn. Classic rock is moved to 105.5 as "Classic rock 105.5 WXKR" .

ESPN sports goes to 100.7, 24/7. Talk radio only is heard on 105.5 HD-3

96.9fm Temporarily simulcasts WXKR then flips to Soft ac or flips to Satellite fed active rock .

WTOD calls move to 96.9, WXKR calls got to 105.5. WNKL goes to 94.5. WPAY calls go to 106.5.

Plus... Urban LLC's deal closes in Alabama soon. Urban Aquires WPFX 107.7 Lucky/Toledo and flips it to a simulcast of 97.3 WJZE.

" 107.7 west side/97.3 east side, Hot 107 and 97"

1207BrianFM: I can't disagree with you on this one. If Andy Stuart really sat down and gave your idea some thought, he would do as suggested, and take all the credit himself. Problem is, most Regional Radio VP's are only worrying about their 401k's and how soon they can retire instead of a plan of action for radio. Nice call Brian, but you'd have to mail this one in to Andy as he couldn't come-up with a good plan like this on his own anymore.

Mary Berner made these deals last week as a tacit admission that Cumulus could not and cannot compete in the largest of markets where they had either an AM/FM duopoly, or not nearly enough to compete against Entercom or iHeart, who both have major advantages in economy of scale.

If a cluster is poorly performing or too small, they aren’t safe. New York only had PLJ and a woefully underutilized Nash, along with a talk station with no ratings and a move-in with a tiny signal in a portion of NYC and tinier ratings. Washington DC only had WMAL A/F and WRQX. Then you have to look at KLOS and hashmarked KABC in LA and KRBE in Houston.

Their Toledo cluster has none of those economy of scale problems, and EMF is fine standing pat with 96.9 and 102.7 up in Detroit (and license squatting on 1520 because no one can afford it).

Its an out there theory but if it were to happen or in part, I think is feasible. CSN could very well come in the picture, Cumulus more or less donates 106.5 to them in return for The 99.5fm Translator in Perrysburg. 100.7/99.5 become The Ticket. 106.5 becomes WWYC-FM, or 106.5 just stands alone and they just surrender 1560 to The FCC.
