Rockin' Eagle 98.7 adds Marquette area signal at 106.9 FM

Looks like a rock radio war might be breaking out in the Marquette area:

Marquette already has the similarly formatted 99.5 K-Rock.

Funny how a market that had ZERO active rock stations at the height of the format's popularity circa year 2000 now has two such stations long after the format has been in a multi-year decline.

106.9 is not a 100 percent simulcast of the 98.7 signal from the Houghton - Hancock area; 106.9 (and AM 970) stick with rock music whenever 98.7 is airing Lions football.

It's the EXACT same feed as what 99.5 is using. You might not hear the same music at the exact same second (sometimes you will), but the playlists are identical. They both must be tapping from the same satellite. I tried to send them a message right when I noticed that but got no response back. WASTED air space here. At least with ESPN radio it wasn't a copycat station.

We surely don't need anymore Country, AC, Pop Hits, Oldies, Classic Rock, or Religion stations on the dial either.

That's really lame if they're using the same sat feed as 99.5!!!

I didn't realize WGLI had dumped local programming.

Usually those deals have market exclusivity....so this really suprises me that they'd be using the the same feed in the same market.

Curious to know if this was lack of research or just not caring so much. Either way isn't good though.

We (Marquette Radio Group, operated by RRN) was never contacted about this. Not good at all and should be cleared up soon.
