Death Spiral?

More likely Heritage is getting cash flow higher for a valuation. It happens in any industry.

With having fewer employees, how can they possibly continue with multiple daily newscasts and also for Local 32? Maybe Heritage can find a buyer and maybe things could change. But throwing money at a problem doesn't always help at the end of the day.

Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast
For it is a human number
Its number is six hundred and sixty-six

The Truth is back after a quick sunny vacation.

Cash flow, valuation, M&A, someone on here has an MBA.

I lived through radio from 1998 - 2007. Can you guess what happens to 9&10 next?

Surely someone as knowledgeable as you is not comparing radio to Broadcast. Several radio companies are still doing well with a digital transformation. The heyday of traditional media is definitely in the rear view mirror, but those committed to providing communities local news and content can still win.

I'm surprised that 9&10 is still locally own and none of the big broadcasters never bought it decades ago.

Might make sense for Gray, Nexstar or Scripps to go after 9&10 since they have several other Michigan stations — if they’re interested in building a statewide profile. But I think Nexstar and Gray are at or near the FCC cap.

I feel like 9&10 being sold has been talked about for decades. There’s a reason they haven’t yet, right? If they wanted to be sold it would have happened by now. I’m sure Sinclair wanted them rather than 7&4.

Was 9 & 10 a more attractive property? They weren't as strong in Traverse City, where the ad dollars are more plentiful.

And who knows if they will sell. I just know aggressive staff cuts usually equate to raising cash flow, which is the foundation of determining a stations saleable value.

2. Would we get out of market affiliates from the tri-cities?
I think the more likely scenario would be 7&4 picking up the affiliations and putting them on subchannels. NBC/CBS on 7&4, ABC/Fox on 29&8.

No way that’s even going to happen. Sinclair doesn’t care about their TC market, let alone buying another station in the same market. Look at how much they have drained from what 7/4 used to be. If Sinclair actually cared, they could takeover the market. Starts with having a noon and 4pm newscast.

I’m sure the FCC would have something to say about that scenario.

Gray would be an obvious suitor for 9&10.

Bridge Television, LLC might be another.

I'd include Mission Broadcasting on the list, too, as well as whatever company owns WZMQ in Marquette.
Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.

Used to be? 7&4 was heading down this road already when Sinclair bought it.

They wouldn't be buying another station, just adding a couple network feeds to their sub-channels, basically like how WBKB in Alpena broadcasts all four networks from one station.
