WWMK Mac FM 106.3 went all Christmas today. WLXT Light 96.3 is scheduled to go all Christmas on Saturday.

Hasn't 106.3 flipped as early as Halloween before?
It's sad I have to say that waiting until the week before Thanksgiving is showing some restraint as far as flipping to all-Christmas goes.

Trash. WHNN already flipped over to Christmas music. Ugh! I think it's lazy programming and I am sure they are alienating many listeners.

Plenty of options to work around this worn out tradition.

How many stations in Northern MI switch to all-Christmas music?

I would be curious though to see if these flips to Christmas music still appeals to their core demographic. I'm sure there are a good portions of their respective listeners who feel alienated and ended up changing the dial. Granted we have satellite radio, USB drives, etc, that isn't the point.

In larger markets (Detroit, Chicago) it is a good news/bad news situation. It attracts a large number of listeners to the station in December. WLIT actually more than doubles in listeners, both casual and frequent. The bad news - it can't keep them after Dec 25th. At least that has been the pattern of PPM markets like Chicago in the past.

In smaller markets, the "all Christmas" switch is as much a tool for advertisers as it is listeners. Advertisers who want to attract customers that are Christmas shopping know that Christmas music listeners are probably in more of a shopping mode.

WLIT throughout 2022 saw some of its best non-seasonal A25 to 54 numbers in ages, frequently besting WTMX and nearly everyone else.

Yes, the numbers rise to insanely high levels around Christmas, but throughout the year that is currently a strong performing station.

You're paying more attention than me.. where are you seeing Chicago 25-54s?

Research Director reports in All Access. Station is a frequent top 5 finisher in A25 to 54. I think it's reached even first or second place at times in recent months.

WOJO, WVAZ, WLIT, WDRV and WBBM/WCFS-F seem to be the top performers of late.
