from what I saw from the internet...FOX 2 Detroit had a reporter in Gaylord and must have been part of their newscasts...WNEM had some coverage but looked like a lot of photos as opposed to video footage.... cant say about 9/10 and 7/4 or 29...

WDIV in Detroit sent two reporters to Gaylord, in fact.

If that's true, that is an epic fail either on the part of WMKC or the EAS originating station.
Not knowing how the box is programed, it may not have passed on the TOR if the county code was incorrect.

But I also agree to the relevance of EAS. That is *still* the main source for alerts.

Did the National Weather Service station in Gaylord get hit by the tornado it was predicting?

Good question. The NWS office is not located in the actual village of Gaylord. It is actually located about 10 miles south of town. The path of the tornado stayed pretty far away from the NWS office; probably never came within eight or nine miles of it.

The interesting thing is that the NWS Immediately confirmed a tornado hit. Why? One of their meteorologists (not sure if on or off duty) actually saw it

If I recall (I visited the NWS office, 20-something years ago), it is located just outside of Waters, which is VERY far from where the tornado was.
