Bumper between Hotel Cali by Eagles and Sympathy for the Devil by Stones @ 1:48pm today

Audio and signal are completely crap.

MACDonald Garber. From Ken MacDonald, Sr. on, they were very adamant about that, not wanting to be confused with a Fast Food joint.

It would seem circa Classic Rock, since they are now playing a loop of Classic Rock or Classic Hits. Not sure how many tracks are in the loop. They may be just stunting though. "Hello, I Love You" by the Doors just seems more like standard 1960s Rock and Roll.

It is definitely stunting; the new format will almost certainly be Country.

Market already has three classic rock stations that blanket the area (I'm counting Q100 as classic rock); adding a fourth would be very foolish.

Looks like they are airing fake formats, which are being changed daily.

The incumbent Country stations are largely territorial in terms of geography. Big Country 102.9 has no real competition in the northern reaches of the market and bills well. It makes sense to target them.

I will say adding a simulcaster to 104.5 Bob FM would also make for a very good use of 106.7.

The only problem with putting Bob on 106.7 is that they are owned by 2 different companies, on paper, and therefore the FCC might raise an eyebrow

You're right that Country would be the best format for the 106.7 signal -- as an 80s/90s gold-based library, with a little sprinkling of 00's and maybe even a 70's showcase once an hour, would be something people could latch onto. Separate the "bling bling" country from the timeless material. That signal covers a lot of rural area, and where are the strongest country P1s... rural areas. However, simulcasting 106.7 with 104.5 would be a waste of a signal. For 104.5, a simulcast with 104.7 would make more sense in that it would bring FM sports back into the market for both TC and Petoskey, plus allow them to separate the two to generate revenue from local high school sports. If you did that, then the question would be what to do with Bob? Potentially, eliminate it and The Bull, then go back to the 96.7/96.3 simulcast. Focus on strong formats across the region - AC/CHR/Country/Talk and then add Sports for the direct rev source. A focused, balanced cluster with less fragmentation.

What about this new format is unlike any radio station we've ever heard?

And they're stunting Led Zeppelin and its backmasked "Stairway To Heaven" like it was the #1 song on the WLS Silver Dollar Survey.

What's "groundbreaking"?

It’s Country. Don’t think they are stunting.

Meh. One less station to bother listening to. Is there a true classic hits station in the Northern lower peninsula market? I guess 99.9 "the wave" would classify based on the music they play, but everything on their air sounds like shit. Lately, they haven't even bothered to broadcast afternoon Tigers games, after bragging all year about being "the new home of Tigers baseball!" "MAC FM," on the other hand, sounds great. Unfortunately the music mix makes me sleepy behind the wheel.
