The box that many broadcasters won’t look outside of was made in 1969 and hasn’t changed significantly since.

He leaves radio, comes back, leaves, comes back more often than Brett Favre toward the end of his NFL career!

I think that nobody really cares about morning shows or radio in Traverse City anymore.

I haven't listened to the Bear in a long time. Forgot he *was* there.

I think WKLT owns the market for Classic Rock in the North. It has an all star live Jock line up and coverage nobody can compare with.

If as in "allstar" you mean stale and irrelevant. KLT needs a major refresh of some sort. Even WRIF eventually identified they needed to go for a younger audience (30+) to remain relevant in the future; and that included the on-air lineup (Out went D&M and Arthur P; in came Dave & Chuck The Freak and Meltdown was moved up). KLT survives solely from it's heritage standing and not necessarily because it's a better station. Cartman's morning show is more lifestyle-relevant to listeners than what the O-man puts out locally. And, as far as the rest of the day, there's not really a particular reason to be drawn to any of the rock formats in TC. Not suggesting The Bear is poised to shake it up and breathe life into rock radio, as musically, rock has been in a lull in what it's churned out for quite some time (aside from perhaps Shinedown and the Foo Fighters). And I'm not confident we'll ever see another GnR followed by Grunge-era in the format. :blink

Bob and Tom crashed and burned on the Bear, Omelette crashed on the Bear, Smitty crashed on the Bear. Maybe the problem in the Bear.

There's one of the problems with FB...

Even if you don't have an account, you can still read stuff posted there:
"...it’s time to not do radio ever again. This is 100% my decision and one I couldn’t be happier with. I have a lot of stuff coming up so stay tuned."
T'what?

Let. It. Go. Man.
I think that nobody really cares about morning shows or radio in Traverse City anymore.
Make it NMI sted of TC, maybe.

Travel nixed by COVID shutdowns probably killed off alot of what was left of the caring.

Captive audiences, those with skin the in game, or lunatic fringe may be all that remains...

Yuck. I absolutely HATE Shinedown's music from the past decade +.

First two albums were decent. Everything after that? Garbage of the Nickelback variety.

Classic Rock works & it works well. KLT's heritage, widespread over-the-air availability, and general music style have served it well. Diluting the brand by making it a 50/50 mix or even 30/70 mix of Active Rock and Classic Rock would be a terrible idea. It would have little impact on Rock 105 and would motivate a good chunk of KLT's existing listenership to switch to The Bear.

There's no reason to turn KLT completely upside down. Very gradual evolution of the playlist over time is what needs to occur (a strategy the station might already be utilizing; I don't listen often enough to know).

From the few times I’ve listened recently, I’ve heard Nickelback among other slightly newer artists (can’t name em off the top of my head right now), but not enough to make a dent in their more 70s-oriented rotation.
