106.7 on the air?

Post by TVC_DX5678 » Sun Nov 22, 2020 11:53 am

Casually scanning the radio when I found 106.7 airing what sounds like lo-fi music... no ID so far. I’ll let you guys know of any new developments as I listen.

Edit: At around 12:00 PM, I heard a quiet “this is WSRT Gaylord”, confirming that this is indeed the station and not a neighborhood Part 15 operation.

Yes. They IDed at 1:00 PM as WSRT Gaylord. Weird New Age Music. Testing, not stunting.

Is THAT where they got the idea for the 486-SX?

Hey Colonel Flagg, do you have the testing and DX Test Tape from WTRX that the late great Don McComb used? They could sure use something good.

Vinyl surface noise on some tracks. Compression beating down audio peaks. Too much dynamic compression in processing?

One might imagine this is satisfy the minimum FCC requirements, as Northern is likely between STAs... and there's still a deal to be closed at some point. I imagine once they satisfy the minimum requirement for WSRT, they'll begin running the same on audio WFDX 92.5, as it's been off, as well.

They only had until December 9, 2020, to get something back on the air. Doesn't mean anything programming wise beyond what is on right now. The transfer closing doesn't have to be complete. They just have to be on the air.

Who is that doing the IDs?

Doesn't sound like the MacDonald Garber engineer. Dennis Murray?

John has been kept informed.

Rationally speaking, why would anyone buy any station under the current milieu of events? The events have slowed the transfer, which was in motion before the virus. Small Business in Michigan is not currently in a position, in general, to buy advertising. Maybe "Dollar a Holler" contracts for large numbers of spots.

Last I checked 106.7 today, I got nothing but silence. I wonder if we’ll be getting a new format soon...

Thanks for the song/artist. The music is so generic I almost wondered if it was not just computer generated nut computer composed. Interesting to know that it is actually recorded by an artist. I kind of like it -- I've actually been listening to WSRT quite a bit! Couple more days and I'll be tired of it...
