Fox 33 Newscast

Post by TVC_DX5678 » Fri Apr 03, 2020 5:44 pm

The guys on NewsActive3 posted an old Fox 33 newscast from 2007, and based on the looks of it, this was before Heritage Broadcasting picked them up.

Hmmm, the production values seems heaps better before Heritage took over. Actually feels like a FOX station back then.

Nice! Thanks for posting. I've been looking for a recording of their broadcast from that era for a while now. So glad to finally have a recording of Jim Kosek on Fox 33!

It's a shame he toned down his usual antics in this video, I assume due to the possibility of severe weather.

For those that don't know, this was during Kosek's time at AccuWeather; his forecasts when he worked there were always quite wild, but damned if they weren't hilarious...

Fox 33's old 10PM newscast (when Rockfleet was running the show) indeed was a decent product.

The design of the lower thirds was a little cheesy, but the remaining production values, anchoring, and reporting were all rock solid.

Did the anchor at that time actually sit in the Cadillac studio, or was the newscast produced out of market?

Much better than the Detroit garbage reporting of today. Simple but good.

The studio carpet was simply wrapped into the holes with a monitor behind it, but it worked.

Was the IP technology even there in 2007 for decent video to Cadillac? I doubt the fiber was there at the studios along 131.

I can remember lots of people from the fox 33 news cast. Tim Toth, Mark Henderson, Mike Galoway just to name a few.
