Wmom is back on air broadcasting Christmas music. Looks like they are broadcasting full power.

Seriously? Ok, I get it. Wanting to spread joy and whatnot instead of the doom and gloom. Easter is literally two and half weeks away. Jump to that.

I'm excited to hear what the new format will be!

Ludington radio is SO BAD. Really bad. WMOM didn't sound the greatest the last couple years on the air prior to its abrupt sign-off. I'm not a fan of the Synergy stations. 94.9 sounded SO MUCH BETTER years ago when it was known as Z95.

Let's just say, different people were in charge during the Z95 days, and leave it at that.

At first, I thought you meant 95.1 Union Grove, WI, which was previously known as WJZQ. Not sure if they ever called it Z95 though. The owner of WMOM was once a WLS Teenage Guest Disk Jockey, and managed stations near the WI IL border as I recall.

Is THAT where they got the idea for the 486-SX?

I think 95.1 in the Kenosha area was known as Power 95 during a good chunk of its CHR/Top 40 run.

According to Wikipedia, that station was never known as Z95 (nor Q95, for that matter).

Not sure why station shutdown in first place. It could been switched to satellite or automation.

A sale is in the works to a part owner of WION and WGLM

I like it!

The new owner is a big believer in local radio. He & his partners will probably do a great job of sticking to WMOM's heritage of being a hyperlocal station.

Expect a full service format with a wide ranging playlist.

I think you are right.

The last line, may not be as accurate. Format will be very precise. Just speaking from someone sitting in the current studio :)

But excited about what will be happening when we launch. We will have details soon.

Over 400 *new* Facebook postings to the WMOM page from folks who missed the station and are excited to see it come back to life.

That is a phenomenal response. I've seen new station launches in Grand Rapids that have garnered no more than a few dozen Facebook postings!

It's an incredible response. Looks like a lot of people have been wanting the station to return and to have that kind of response is rewarding.

Here's WMOM's TOH ID from a week ago (slight delay in posting this).

They're running low power since they've come back on. I'm not sure how low (not greatly low), but from here in Fremont, they don't have a great signal at all and it's still easy to hear WRVM through their signal. There are plenty of nulls in a 360-degree turn with the portable no matter the conditions whereas it used to require an annoying amount of effort to find nulls at all. I was pretty sure with the poor audio quality and staticy signal that I was hearing a pirate at first - zero talk between any of the songs at all aside from at the top of the hour - until I peeked around to confirm it was WMOM back on.

So long, WRVM. It was nice hearing you almost 24/7 (with a side of V103 and Froggy) for the past year.

I can verify that the station is not running at low power. Running at 100% of power. Monitored station just north of Montague, north of Manistee and Wellston. Started to pick up scratch signal even as far as Kent City. Pretty amazing for a 6kw station.

Station is not going to launch format until everything is ready. Christmas music to accomplish two things 1) to confirm station is back on the air and 2) to spread a little cheer during this COVID-19 time.

Running news at the top of each our as well, along with that legal ID. Certainly no need to have talk or commercials before a new format relaunch.

So all is good.
