What is airing on 98.9 FM right now? Did it switch to K-Love, or is the station off the air for the moment?

As of 11:45 PM 98.9 Petoskey is silent,but 6000 watt EZ listening WEMP is booming in here like a semi local here on the east side of Traverse.

In Manistee, WEMP has usually been in with a weak signal since that station signed on a few years ago.

Air-1 instead of K-Love ?!?!

Wow, that is a big surprise. I thought for sure K-Love would air there. Air-1 is nowhere even remotely as popular as K-Love.

98.9 going Air-1 is very interesting. This also makes Traverse City-Petoskey one of very few markets to have Air-1 but no K-Love (the other examples I can think of off the top of my head are Dallas and Houston; Los Angeles was another example until a couple of years ago). Makes me wonder if 101.9 (or the Promise FM group) might end up going K-Love in the next few months. I'm a little surprised 104.9 in Green Bay didn't go Air-1 (as K-Love already puts a very good signal over Green Bay via 90.5 WPFF).

If the Promise FM group were to go to EMF:
91.1 WOLW and 102.3 WTHN become K-Love (with 98.9 WKLZ going to K-Love)
90.5 WPHN and 100.9 WQHN become Air-1

I cannot see Biederman paying more for 98.9 than what EMF paid.

A trade with EMF appears more likely - 93.5 + a little cash for 98.9.

I think with the current state of radio and short term (at best) economic problems, less is more. I think you'll see a lot of stations filing STAs for less power and higher numbers of bays to save power. 93.5 gets out pretty well as a C2. The noncommercial NCE-FMs in the NW part Emmet County get out very well with substantially less power.

Lansing has Air 1 on two translators fed by WITL-HD3, but no K-Love (although 89.1 from Bay City can be picked up in Clinton County).

So far, there’s nothing in the FCC Databases that shows a change. Have they filed but the FCC hasn’t approved it yet? Will WBCM become WKLZ-FM? Can WMAX go back to WBCM? Can WGVU go back to WMAX? Would the current owners of WMAX-FM allow it, lease it?
