Now we know where WQAN was broadcasting from!

Saw this on another board: https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments ... 8715A1.pdf

99.3 WQAN was broadcasting 1.45kW from the WLDR tower in June 2019 without an STA.

Damn; they are in big trouble.

It's becoming increasingly clear that the Blarney Stone folks are total hacks.

First, they publicly announce a format change for a station they don't yet own (92.5/94.3). Then, when they enter into an apparent LMA, said format change never occurs.

Second, the acquisition of the Northern Radio stations that they publicly announced quietly dies due to an apparent inability to obtain the requisite financing.

Now, they are found to be in apparent violation of their FCC license for WQAN!!!

Un-fucking-believable.

Roy's N Content Marketing is still the licensee.

True, but I suspect the facilities change was either performed directly by Blarney Stone or was performed with Blarney Stone's knowledge.

Remember, 99.3 magically came back to life - with a better signal over the immediate TC area - *after* the LMA began!

I believe (in my opinion) Roy is incapacitated but he seems to have found a suitable partner.

There are too many engineers paying attention in Traverse City to try this kind of thing, especially if Roy owns the license.

I'll ask around how this was discovered.

Anyone with Kenwood F6 handheld ham radio could have figured it out, as it has a signal strength level on it.

In fact, just driving around you could have figured it out too by where is stops on seek, adjacent-channel interference, etc.

Somebody filed the complaint. The FCC doesn't send field agents out for no good reason.

Like they point out, they could have filed for an STA under the rules (or even a booster)and done this legally. What is Mister H. (like the Beatles song!), like a shoplifter that does it for the thrill?

We should photoshop some FM Bays onto the flag pole!

If they really wanted to increase the population in their coverage area, they should have moved it to the Willis Tower - no more illegal than what they did!

Too bad I'm not in Benzie Co. for two weeks every year (as I would be most years 1975-1987 and a few years afterwards). I would have caught that immediately.

Roy H. must think radio people in Northern Michigan are unsophisticated. Between all the multigenerational radio people from ~Detroit and ~Chicago who want to be radio pioneers in Northern Michigan, and the native Northern Michigan people born to be in radio, you can't pull the wool over anyone's eyes. Look, even Jim Harper is doing radio in Northern Michigan! What was Roy thinking?

Everyone involved in WLDR/WQAN/etc. makes Synergy in Ludington sound like a major market cluster
