WTCM-FM 103.5, etc.
Re: WTCM-FM 103.5, etc.
Excellent, thank you for the 3 minutes it took to find this.
NMCTurd, I guess I don't have an axe to grind about Midwestern. It seems you do.

Re: WTCM-FM 103.5, etc.
No, nimrod, my beef is with you.
And, oh by the way, your friends over at Midwestern, the purported largest and (according to you) the “most monied” broadcasting company in Northern Michigan, “piggied” up to One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00) in PPP Money to add to their “most monied” coffers.
TC Talks, you should change your “moniker”. Your “sell-by date” has come and gone and has become nothing more than a bloviating fraud.
Why can’t you accurately contribute to an honest and relative thread to this well known and authoritative Board?
I feel sorry for you, TC Talks. Really.
Back on topic, Northern Michigan radio is in serious trouble, including but not limited to, Midwestern Broadcasting and Biederman, as lurker has gratefully provided to us all.
Re: WTCM-FM 103.5, etc.
Sparky, go back to taking your meds and attempt to make a point.
Broadcasting as an industry, is in trouble. In fact, any industry that relies on advertising is going to take a fairly big haircut in revenue in 2020. That fact is not in dispute. And it's not just in Northern Michigan.
And, since Henderson doesn't have any paychecks in Michigan, I don't think he would qualify for a PPP loan.
Lighten up, Francis.
Re: WTCM-FM 103.5, etc.
I guess if you want to measure things based on PPP, go for it. It seems like you don't know what a cash cow radio is these days.
BTW, dollars spent on radio is now less than 1.5% of all ad funds, down from 7% in the 1980's. Radio has never been a winner except for a handful of operators, plus those who were lucky enough to get 18 times cash flow when consolidation took place.
Were you around then, teaching? We have all sorts of idiots on the site so you should feel at home.

Are you implying Radio Sucks is one of those idiots you refer to?TC Talks wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 11:49 amI guess if you want to measure things based on PPP, go for it. It seems like you don't know what a cash cow radio is these days.

Or are you just hiding behind him like you did with audiophile, with your snap response.
Nice move. And an old one by now.
And yes I was back in the 80’s. Where you like to live, mainly in your mind.
Radio is not a cash cow today as it was back in the 80’s, contrary to your instant reference.
I think Radio Sucks would respectfully agree with that.

While I do find this to be mildly entertaining, one can only speculate as to the true reasons for all of this vitriol.

No idea, this dude lands on the site mocking my user ID and tries to challenge me that radio is in the dumper, which I have been contending for years. I always like a good fight.Colonel Flagg wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 3:40 pmWhile I do find this to be mildly entertaining, one can only speculate as to the true reasons for all of this vitriol.
I actually think this is the late MCRF, who used to be a poster in the Detroit forum. Either that or he's one of the "also ran" folks who was spurned by a local operator. Either way I don't exactly know what his point is, except he's angry about PPP recipients.

Re: WTCM-FM 103.5, etc.
Please explain how this is "negative". iHeart shares are up. But this is a deal to cut the cost of SirusXM licensing fees. It costs a lot of money in fees to songwriters and performers to stream... and a lot less to stream an existing on air signal. They can put Pandora channels on HD sub channels and then stream those, same thing iHeart does on iHeart radio channels like American Top 40 - 70s and 80s.NMCSpeaks wrote: ↑Thu Jul 23, 2020 11:42 amMore negative news, TC Talks.

Re: WTCM-FM 103.5, etc.
Airplay is a tricky thing. Streaming services like Spotify have killed an entire revenue stream for many musicians but radio and broadcast streaming amounts to promotion, because it isnt on demand.
I don't think that it should be lowered for XM anf Pandora, if it costs too much, raise your fees.

Re: WTCM-FM 103.5, etc.
When nobody else pays for the ratings, you get to have the top positions all to yourself.
I have a sinking feeling that TC/Peto/Caddy Nielsens will soon go the way of these other markets they've recently dropped from their regular surveys:
Battle Creek, Michigan, Bend, Oregon, Billings, Montana, Grand Junction, Colorado, New Bedford-Fall River, Massachusetts, Texarkana, Texas/Arkansas, Richland-Kennewick-Pasco, Washington, Twin Falls-Sun Valley, Idaho and Yakima, Washington.
All's not well in Radioland these days, I have to say with much regret.
