Ratings meltdown for 94.9 WMMQ; AQH share down 50% vs. a year ago!

Post by MWmetalhead » Wed Aug 04, 2021 7:20 pm

Ditching the popular local morning show at WMMQ in favor of FB&HW has brought about a ratings catastrophe for the station!!!

In Spring 2020, the station had a 9.4 share (it's a 2 book per year market, so I believe that is a trailing 2 book average).

In Fall 2020, around the time the switch was made, a 6.1 share. Writing is already on the wall, right?

In the just released Spring 2021 book, the station scored a truly abysmal 4.2 share. What's worse, direct competitor Crusin' 92.9, with its much smaller budget, rocketed up to a 3.9 share! The fact 92.9 is nipping at 94.9's heels is truly remarkable!

In other news, AM 1240's audience appears to be dying of old age, and hardly anyone is listening to AM 730, either. The WKAR stations weren't listed this time, which is odd.

I think that crusing 92.9 has a local morning guy. If so that definitely can't hurt. Not sure if they are voice tracking mornings or doing it live? Anyhow I will give it a listen tomorrow morning and see. Didn't free beer and hot wings bomb out once before in the Lansing market? Seems like they did a stint on 94.1 FM before it turned into Duke FM?

Clownsquare bending over to FBHW’s request to be put on every rock / classic rock station that they own has to be one of the most stupidest things they’ve ever done. The old morning guy on MMQ was funny and had a helluva back story prior to getting into radio. This wasn’t well thought out at all

Funny, WUOM is the only non-commercial station listed.
