Bow your heads over the death of STIRR

Proving once again that Sinclair has NO vision for the future of broadcasting, it is selling off its streaming service, STIRR:
https://cordcuttersnews.com/sinclair-se ... ce%20STIRR

As more and more people are cutting the cord and turning to streaming services, Sinclair in its infinite lack of wisdom pulls the plug on STIRR.

I’ll say it again, Sinclair needs to just sell all of its stations and get out of broadcasting completely. The idiots running this company at the corporate and station level shouldn’t even be allowed to operate a 1970s CRT TV, much less a 2024 multi-media news outlet.

When you feature your station as 'live and local' during newscasts like STIRR did in NW lower MI, but attempting to watch it never works (Whose Line Is It Anyway or CSI:Miami always seemed to displace it) just proves that the owner doesn't care and/or is asleep at the wheel.

Removing that owner is not a negative.

Edit: After reviewing what others have stated regarding STIRR's change in content by visiting the site, I stand corrected:

Removing that app is not a negative.

Holy shit, you aren't kidding. The bigger travesty is that they went live with that to begin with thinking there would be an audience for it.

Bargain bin might be too nice. This stuff is what you would find at a flea market being sold by people who picked them up at an estate sale.

The thing is that Sinclair was the first stations in the Flint market to launch a streaming app that featured local news. Then Sinclair did what they always do… they go cheap, they can’t figure out how to make money, then they sell it off at a loss. Anyone remember their Circa website experiment?

Byron Allen doesn’t even know what a live streaming app is. I’m actually impressed with Gray’s app, it’s easy to navigate. WNEM doesn’t have much content on it… at least compared to WOIO in Cleveland or WILX in Lansing.
