Investigate TV on 5

Post by smallwonder » Tue Aug 01, 2023 3:01 pm

5 is replacing Dr. Phil with the Gray mandated show Investigate TV at 3:30 starting September 11. The 3 slot opens up for another potential newscast.

Watched an episode online. Nice to see Caresse Jackman, but otherwise the graphics, set and music were awful. Basically a very low budget Dateline. Not surprising though. My expectation was very low.
Another newscast at 3:00? I think the daytime airing of Jeopardy would pull in some better ratings and be a much stronger lead in.

I don't really know what the point would be to pop in with news for a half hour before then having to pop back out for the next half hour, but that's just me.

Flint doesn't have enough to do news at 3PM kinda surprised they have 4PM news as Flint and the area is a small market. I think other TV station groups can also air Investigate TV if there is no Gray TV station I don't think it will air in West Michigan unless Nexstar, Sinclair, TEGNA, or Sinclair are desperate to fill a timeslot. It will be interesting what Wood TV will do with 2PM this fall since Rachel Ray has ended her talk show, I think WWMT will air 4PM newscast in Sep since Dr. Phil has also ended as well.

Color bars are better than having to listen to Dr. Phil.

Investigate TV has to be cheaper to produce considering Gray won’t have syndication fees.

WNEM *could* do what 9&10 does with "The Four" (that name still drives me up a wall....) and just make it more of an entertainment news show.

Have you watched TV5’s newscasts lately? They are already filled up with non-news.

No, it's been a little while since I've watched 5's newscast. Just throwing out a thought.

Due to lack of community interest and lack of audience interest, Focus on 5 has been canceled. Jeopardy reruns replace it starting on Monday.
