Leslie is “retiring” as a way to prevent having to pay Sinclair’s liquidated damages.

Liquidated damages is the amount a billion dollar company forces its employees to pay when the employee breaks their contract

Unsure of what Gray or Sinclair requires but some previous talent at 5 under Meredith used to say it was 5 digits to break a deal. Insanity.

Not a big fan of contacts for work but it is the law of the land. Hard to work in the news end of broadcasting without one.
In the end, you agreed to the terms and signed it. Get on with your life.

LT's exit letter was very nice.

BTS: Sinclair’s liquidated damages is a complicated percentage of your contract divided by the amount of time you have left under the contract. One person wanting to leave went to the HR Director 4 times and got 4 different amounts for the buyout.

The contract system simply doesn’t work. They will literally force unhappy workers to stay, being more unproductive and dragging down morale. The argument that a MMJ or news producer has competitive information that could ruin a station’s profitability is laughable.

I can understand stations wanting to put main talent that make big bucks under contract since there’s promotion and major station projects built around their tenure. But these stations shouldn’t force MMJs, photogs, producers, directors, etc. to sign restrictive contracts with large punitive liquidated damage clauses.

As for Leslie’s exit. On air and email we’re very nice. At the going away party, she was a lot more candid to speak freely of what drove her out of a business where she’s spent the last three decades.

Funny that I don’t recall seeing you Soundchaser at the party at the White Horse. Hmmmmm…

Nope, try again. You like to call people out but don’t like it so much when your actions and knowledge are questioned. Keep on trollin’

Stink, it's not that you're always wrong, it's that what you post is always negative. Well 99% negative anyway. And we've heard it all before. it's getting oooooooooooolllllllllllldddddddd.

They say it's easier to be positve than negative.

Give it a try.

Were 25-66 managers at Leslie's retirement party Sinklair? Were Karin ND and soon-to-be anchor at the party or didn't management not want to hear how bad it is working at 25-66.

Whelp, Sinklair, thanks for the kind words about my on air and email farewells. I have been an occasional visitor to this forum, but I never really have had much to say, so I don't post. I used to stop by about once a year, just to see if anything has changed. Then, one of my colleagues pointed out one of your posts. I don't remember your exact words, so forgive me. I believe it had something to do with my erratic mood swings. I found that intriguing enough that I stopped in a little more often. I have already been called an egomaniac by another poster, or maybe it was you. Anyway, I searched my name. Wow, that was eye-opening.
According to you, and at least one other poster, I am part of the reason for the mass exodus at the station. I am hardly perfect, and I have lost my cool at work a couple of times, as many others have, by the way- you included. I find it hard to believe that so many people- the majority of whom worked different shifts and never saw me- would leave because of my storied history of being miserable to work with. Now, if I did you wrong, I apologize, because I would not intentionally do that to anyone.
Really, I decided to comment today to sort of clear the air. For starters, I don't know if the lover of life is still a poster on this board, but I just wanted him to know that when someone no one in this market wants to hire comes after me with snarky little remarks about me looking like a seal or making a very convincing man, I think it is clearly obvious that someone is hurting inside. Therapy. It works. You'll have to trust me on that.
I have read that I act like a drunk, that I was terrible at the profession I managed to stay employed in for 33 years, and that no one wants to work with me. I don't really have much to say about that. I try to be a good person. I am not perfect, by any means. What you really cannot rightly call me is dishonest. I am pretty straight up. People find that hard to swallow, and I have spent a lot of time working on my bluntness.
Since we are on the whole honesty subject, Sinklair, I have to ask, why on earth would you attend my going away party? I don't think that really bodes well for the type of person you are. You see, the gathering was really quite small. The people there were all friends, some of whom I have worked with for nearly 2 decades. If you were among them, I can only conclude that you are a dishonest, disingenuous person. Who smiles in a person's face, then spews hate about them when they find an anonymous forum where they can launch an attack?
I don't take offense to most of what I read here, because I know people come on this board to vent. Curiosity finally got the best of me, and I had to just ask you about this, Sinklair. I want you to know that I am pretty positive I know who you are. In fact, many of us do. It is what it is.
For the record, I know you are not the only one who has said unkind things about me here. I was very amused by a recent post that metalhead must have taken down. I think he was right to do that. I mean, any of you can say anything you want about me. It's a free country, and it certainly isn't hurting me. But, that particular poster went after my husband's character. My husband, for the record, is one of the best people I know. I think- and this is just my opinion- that took things a little too far.
So, have at it, carry on. Assassinate my character. Slam my on-air performance. Attack my people skills. But do it all honestly. I think that is a reasonable ask, don't you?
