Get ready for a lot more piped-in weather reports on the weekends for a little while.

He has not had his last day but will be leaving in the next month or two. Ron has done very well in Flint and his family is in Detroit. Even without having a full degree at this time he seems to be on par with degreed meteorologists in terms of coverage and knowledge.

He’s not a meteorologist and doesn’t have a degree in it; he’s just a forecaster

Ron’s not the only one leaving… Leslie is also “retiring” from TV. Had enough of the politics at 25-66. She thought she should have been named Chief Met. Her getting passed over by Erik was the last straw.

I thought it was bad under former News Director Neille. But Karin is literally driving people out faster than she can replace them.

Big congrats to Ron. Local 4 is his dream job. He’s worked extremely hard at his craft. And he’s been an amazing coworker. He deserves nothing but the best.

I agree with you sink, Ron is a great guy. Glad Leslie is leaving finally. She didn't deserve the chief position anyways.

Here’s the announcement from Leslie that she just posted on her Facebook page:

“ I have some life news to share. I am retiring from broadcasting after nearly 33 years. My last day on NBC25/FOX66 will be Monday, January 2. I will be doing something completely different, but I am not able to announce that just yet.
You have allowed me into your homes in Michigan for nearly 28 years, 18 and a half of those in Mid-Michigan. I have been so incredibly blessed to be part of this community, and will continue to work, play, and contribute here. Thank you so much for allowing me to tell your stories, and for sharing your lives with me. This is not goodbye, it's just something new. I love you all.”

Here’s what Ron posted to his Facebook page and yesterday’s announcement by WDIV:

“Since childhood, I have been fascinated by weather. Family and friends remind me that I never stopped talking about it.

I could not be more thrilled to continue talking about it professionally in my hometown of Detroit.

I am grateful for this incredible journey, which sent me to Erie, PA and landed me at Mid-Michigan NOW four years ago.

I will start at WDIV Local 4 / ClickOnDetroit in early 2023; but Mid-Michigan, I still have more work to do for you.

Thank you to everyone who has been with me or supported me on this journey.”

Ahmad has to be kicking himself… if he had waited just a little bit longer he might be working at Local 4 instead of startup CBS 62

They may not have wanted Ahmad. As a meteorologist, he may have been to expensive for them. I like Ron a lot. However; he is not a meteorologist. I hear Leslie is retiring early next year.

I really doubt that this is the case. Ron taking a position in Detroit is a logical progression of his career.
Good luck to him.

Flint/Saginaw undoubtedly is a step up from the shit hole that is Erie, PA.
