Why is this station's audio so loud and muddy???

I want to like this station - I really do - but the last couple of times I've driven through the area, the audio has sounded rotten.

96.1 WHNN has gotten its act together audio wise. The settings are by no means perfect but are much improved from the excessively tinny audio of a year ago.

104.1 The Bay has nice, clean audio.

Simple answer on the loudness - they’re owned by the same folks that own 98.5 UPS and Rock 105/95.5. Both of those stations are loud but not as muddy.
