WNEM News Director Jayne Hodak used to have a “rule” that she wouldn’t talk with talent agents. She would only negotiate directly with the prospective employee. Agents like Mort Meisner would then steer their clients away from Jayne to stations like WEYI, WSMH.

Not sure if Jayne still has the same rule, but I’m guessing so.

I truly don’t understand why anyone would hire an agent and give up 3-5% of their wages. It’s not hard to find out what jobs are out there…

What agent would want to put a client into a ratingless abyss?

So, is she married or is she available? Is she a good cook and will she do my laundry?
