Soon it will be ABC 12 news at 6 with Denise, Brock, and a Burger King swing manager.

We’ll if you drive your stations into the ground, but still want to be profitable, I guess you can just now sue advertisers to get your way. Screw the old way of actually raising ratings!

Byron Allen has made inroads getting big advertisers to spend more on Black-owned media—specifically his own. But he still doesn’t believe the industry is moving far or fast enough, and to get things going, said he may need to sue up to 30 more companies.

I thought Allen buying ABC12 from Gray TV would be a good thing. I was completely wrong.Under New Management wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 4:14 pmWe’ll if you drive your stations into the ground, but still want to be profitable, I guess you can just now sue advertisers to get your way. Rachael Elyer's bio has been removed from the ABC12 website.

Not their fault. They were working in Alpena. Clearly, not ready for Flint. Denise should have known better than to hire them with so little experience.

Nobody else is applying to work at ABC 12.whitebalance wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 6:46 pmNot their fault. They were working in Alpena. Clearly, not ready for Flint. Denise should have known better than to hire them with so little experience.

No one is applying at any of the Flint stations. Time to start paying your current employees more. Stop with the stupid MMJ model and provide a reasonable workload. If they don’t start doing this… what do GMs and News Directors expect to happen? Your employees will continue to leave and hiring managers will get stuck with “talent” who aren’t ready to report at this level market. Flint news directors are the single biggest force in turning Flint into the Alpena of southern Michigan. The lack of real journalism will also ruin their ad sales. Who wants to continue to advertise on a poorly produced local newscast with dwindling ratings?

Maybe just dissolve the Flint market?sinklair wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 8:00 pmNo one is applying at any of the Flint stations. Time to start paying your current employees more. 12 has the most photographers in the market. Some are incredibly talented. They have a unique situation where they have more photographers than reporters.
Some anchors there should step up and start reporting. A few already do.
Personally, captain denise has sunken that ship. The question who's going down with her.

Lets face it. This market is not coming back. I don't know about 5 and 25, but 12 is not going to get better. That station was bought so the parent company can milk it dry.. Most companies don't give a shit about news, it's a necessary evil. The other reality is that viewers are mostly old folks. In a few years viewership will dwindle to nothing. Young people don't care about tv news, or tv in general. The one thing that will save 25/66/46 (if the broadcasting model as we know it survives) is they have 3 networks under one roof. That's a lot of income baby.sinklair wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 8:00 pmNo one is applying at any of the Flint stations. Time to start paying your current employees more. Respectfully disagree Soundchaser. Local news/weather/sports is the only thing these stations have to provide. Without local news, NBC-ABC-CBS-FOX affiliates are just another cable station. They’d be no better, no worse than Lifetime.
Under the NBC Affiliation agreement, WEYI needs to air a local newscast. But if ratings and revenue don’t improve, I doubt Sinclair will continue to put more money into a failing station. They will likely go to the “Toledo” model, where another station produces their local news. In this case it’ll be WWMT producing news for Flint with a minimal staff of MMJs. That’ll be the final death blow.
