Rieffer jumps ship

Post by sinklair » Tue Nov 23, 2021 12:17 pm

25-66 General Manager Jennifer Rieffer is jumping ship. She’s been named GM at Gray’s WXIX in Cincinnati… competing against Sinclair.

Let’s see if Sinclair can actually find someone to clean up the mess here on Pierson Road. My prediction is they can’t. They’ll probably promote some sales schmuck with no station-level management experience. Or maybe the GM job will finally be classified as one of the non-essential positions that SBG won’t fill.

I’m gonna apply, just for the hell of it. It’ll just show how rigged the system is.

Even though it’s been announced that Jennifer is leaving, the Corporate Death Star still hasn’t gotten around to posting the position. It’s not like they have to come up with completely different wording. Just dust off the same posting they used when our former GM/egomaniac bolted to Sinclair’s underperforming Seattle station.

The likely reason that’s it’s not posted yet is Rob Weisbord snd company are handpicking their next submissive GM to do their bidding — to keep costs down regardless of its impact on the quality of our broadcasts. They have never sought to promote someone from with who actually knows the staff or community. Sinclair would never hire someone from outside the sales ranks to become a general manager. They will continue to use the same failed process that has led to our current last place market position… regardless of who applies.

Seattle and Cincinnati are both superior markets to Flint.

What's more pathetic: harassing an old man who is paying to do a radio show or supporting a grifter like Trump?

Every where else is superior to 25-66

Matt: Seattle and Cincy are bigger markets. Superior depends on who is running the stations. I can guarantee you the Sinclair stations in big markets are just as big of train wrecks as Flint. It’s the dysfunctional leadership from the Sinclair corporate Death Star that’s the common denominator.

Well, this is just plain embarrassing…

https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2021/ ... s-in-flint

Nothing like getting called out in the trades for your incompetency. Not like it’s a surprise since we’ve been sounding that alarm now for months.

The next two departure memos need to announce the resignations of our In Over Her Head News Director and HR Director/Grilled Cheese Party Planner.

Yes, some left because of better opportunities. Some were pushed out the door because management thought they couldn’t do the job. Others were victims of downsizing by the Corporate Death Star.

But this list of exit memos doesn’t even tell the whole story. Hell, it’s not even a complete list of employees who have left in recent weeks or have already announced that they’ve had enough and will soon be leaving.

On that list… our handpicked Sinclair GM lasted less than two years before deciding 25/66 was beyond fixable. That’s not new… it’s just the condition our former GM/egomaniac left us in before being “promoted” to the West Coast. Since he’s also been a failure at KOMO, many are concerned Sinclair will “promote” his butt back to Flint… which will drive even more people out of the market.

We lost two of the market’s most seasoned and profitable sales account executives (which we call marketing consultants) — both fed up with our Director of Declining Sales and the Sinclair unreachable budgets made only worse by the layoffs of our research assistants.

Producers, reporters, engineers, newscast directors, photographers, anchors, Executive Producer all are leaving. There’s one common denominator… the broken culture at 25-66. It will only improve once those responsible for making this a horrible place to work are gone. Sinclair needs to clean house. Now. Those running the station now that Jennifer is gone are some of the absolute worst managers I’ve ever worked with… including the ASSistant GM/Promotions Director, our In Over Her Head News Director, the Director of Declining Sales, and the HR Director/Grilled Cheese Party Planner. Regional News Director Lame Michaelsen has also run this station into the ground with his mandates on everything from must-run coverage to the Mid-Michigan NOW! joke of a rebranding campaign.

It says a lot when after 20+ years the HR Director can only send out a form email announcing your departure. It also says a lot that supervisors can’t be bothered with showing up to what’s now become near daily going away parties.

How long does it take to kill a station? About 10 years ago, 25-66 was hiring the likes of Bill Harris, Joel Feick, Kristen Aguirre, Jeanna Trotman, Walter Smith Randolph, Jennifer Profitt… and equally talented staff behind the scenes. The latest crop of 25-66 managers pushed out those who cared about the quality of journalism we produced and pushed to get involved in the community.

Will the last person to leave 25-66 please turn out the lights?

I'm surprised that Scott Jones doesn't do stories on 25/66 daily or weekly since there is a lot of problems at the station and I'm sure management likes stories about 25/66 on FTVLive along with Sinclair as well LOL. Cake in the break room weekly since everyone is leaving?
