Matt Barbour getting his own show at 9am on abc 12?

Post by Kincade3072 » Thu Sep 02, 2021 5:51 am

Have you heard abc12 is giving Matt Barbour his own show at 9 am? Kinda strange that we need another hour of local news during the week.

Yes, I've seen promotions that "Good Morning MidMichigan" will start Monday, Sept. 6 on Channel 12. I even heard from Operations Manager Jayne Berklich today when I emailed Channel 12, who confirmed that Kelly & Ryan won't be appearing there as of Sept. 6. (I was surprised but pleased to get an answer actually.)

I expect there are two choices: A. Channel 5 picks up "Live With Kelly & Ryan" or B. Nobody in this TV market carries Kelly & Ryan (I doubt that.)

Channels 25 and / or 66 aren't likely to pay to carry Kelly & Ryan, I expect.

I think the big story here is that Channel 12 is dropping another expensive show, cutting costs all the way. It was just a little thing when they dropped "Mr. Food" a year or two ago, but it's the trend that they don't really care about the ratings, but just want to cut costs whenever possible.

Other scenarios?

Or... I see in Lansing that Kelly & Ryan are moving to Fox47 there. Maybe it will go to TV66 here in Flint-Saginaw-Bay City-Midland? I'd be surprised but not shocked. Wonder if Kelly & Ryan will stay at WXYZ TV7 in Detroit on ABC?

I wouldn't be surprised if it showed up on the TV5 Plus subchannel. If I remember correctly, Live used to air on TV5 back in the day before ABC purchased WJRT.

I looked at my channel guide on DirecTV for next week. Both 5 and 12 are going to be showing news at 9am. None of the main channels are showing Live. It’s either going to be on a sub channel or 5 will start showing it the next week.

My mistake, Kathie Lee. David Letterman called Kelly Ripa, Kelly Lee!!

Just checked the “Live with Kelly and Ryan” website. No one else in the Tri City market will be showing the show.

Christina Burkhardt on Facebook was promoting the new 9am show and some were criticizing the decision. Her response was that it was a decision made by corporate and it saved jobs at the station

Just checked the channel guide - Live with Kelly and Ryan is on at 2am now on ABC12. I’m thinking that it’s part of the ABC networks overnight programming

If Kelly and Ryan is airing on WJRT, someone needs to notify Master Control to record the show.

Get on Kelly and Ryan’s website. If you put in a ZIP code from the Flint / Tri City area that shows your local affiliate, it shows none found.

The show stopped being good after Regis retired anyway….

My mom is quite upset about this - she tells me it is (or now was) the only daytime television show she watches.

So I'm going to try to rig up an antenna for her to get it on WBKB 11.

Looks like nobody has picked up the show yet. It's interesting because it's normally one of the highest rated talk shows in daytime, usually 2nd to Dr. Phil. I get that it's expensive, but was it not pulling in enough viewers in Flint to justify the cost?
